Finger crossed for Jenna and Victoria at Emmy nominations
The odds of it happening are probably low, but there is still a chance that Victoria and Jenna Coleman could get Emmy nominations when they are announced on Thursday (July 13), so keep your fingers crossed. (The US media are pretty much assuming that The Crown will vacuum up the “royalty” related nominations.)
As for Doctor Who... I don’t rightly know when the cut-off date for Emmy eligibility is. It’s possible Series 10 started airing too late to make the cut for this year, so it might leave both Peter and Pearl out in the cold too. (Michelle Gomez I’d also say deserves a “best guest performance” nomination). Realistically, though, Doctor Who is far too family friendly a show to really resonate with Emmy voters, and the sci-fi/fantasy quota will probably be filled by adults-only stuff like Westworld and Game of Thrones (assuming Season 6 wasn’t covered off last year - EDIT: according to Vanity Fair’s article, Thrones is not eligible this year). But we will see.
