Three of America’s Greatest Classical Musical Festivals

Peter Gregor, MD, is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and is a board-certified cardiologist serving patients at Palm Springs-based Desert Oasis Healthcare. When he is not caring for patients, Peter Gregor, MD, enjoys personal interests including painting seascapes and listening to classical music. Classical music festivals take place across America throughout the year. Three of the country’s top classical music festivals are described below. 1. Tanglewood Festival of Contemporary Music. This festival takes place in Lenox, Massachusetts, in August at the Tanglewood Music Center, and features the center’s composers and student performers. Festival attendees have an opportunity to see developing musicians performing with veterans of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and can also attend question and answer sessions. 2. Colorado Music Festival. Hosted at the Chautauqua Auditorium in Boulder from June to August, this six-week-long festival features performances by musicians from around the globe and the Colorado Music Festival Orchestra. Festival-goers are invited to watch the orchestra and performers while they prepare for future performances, and can also attend open rehearsal sessions. 3. Bellingham Festival of Music. Held in Bellingham, Washington, in June, this festival celebrates the classical music of legendary composers. Performances at the festival are delivered by the top symphony orchestras in America. This three-week-long festival features performances by internationally renowned guest artists as well as rising talent.
