PETER HOUSE - LIVE AT KOFFEE KAT (06-10-2013)
Singer songwriter Peter House (pictured above, riding in the back of a truck named Death Wheeleez) currently resides in Rochester, New York. Peter is a very talented guitarist who takes a unique and engaging approach to pop, bluegrass, folk, country, and generally "acoustic" music. When I met Peter in 2008, he was a student in Potsdam, New York. I've had the privilege of seeing Peter play many times since then, and this is one of those times that I was able to capture. Here today is a straight to cassette recording of Peter House at the lovely Koffee Kat in Plattsburgh. The Koffee Kat is a weird venue. It's free to reserve, and sometimes the donation based shows there can bring in a sizable amount of cash, but performers are constantly fighting to be heard over espresso machines and coffee grinders. Thankfully there isn't too much (if any) of that business on this recording, rather we have Peter House playing nine originals and a Magnetic Fields cover. He's even joined at one point by Shannon Stott (violinist in Doomfuck, Adrian Aardvark, Marco Polio, and many others). I'll most likely be posting more Peter House bootlegs in the future, but this is as good a place to start as any, so hop on it!
LAP IT UP
It's Fall and feels like it. This came out a year ago today. Mostly I recorded it in the two weeks preceding that.
Songs with which you can curl up with some cider or pumpkin-spice-and-corn-syrup or a beer or a clove cigarette or a regular cigarette or a laptop or better yet, go outside and walk through some leaves while/before listening.
It's an EP, so if your ears and soul aren't hungry enough for more music, then there you go.
