bandersnatch cracked mirror ending?
Edit: choiceless ending? Cracked mirror might be irrelevant
I can’t find anything about this online, and I’m honestly not sure if the show just glitched out on me, so let me know if a variant of this happened to you haha
So I was fucking around with bandersnatch and trying to get the Jerome f Davies ending and something really weird happened
It stopped giving me choices
I had been playing for maybe a little over hour at that point but I wasn’t really keeping track, I was just trying to get Stefan to pick up the picture frame for a second time but I wasn’t quite sure how, so this resulted in me going back and doing the same things over and over, then making a different choice and doing that over and over
(To the point that I don’t think I could ever remember or recreate what I did)
Eventually, I reached what I thought was the sequence where Stefan climbs through the mirror, but instead of going through, when he placed his finger on the mirror and it cracked spidering outwards, and then Stefan woke up
I knew that I hadn’t seen that before, and hadn’t read about it anywhere
But then it really got weird
It stopped giving me choices and kept looping around different endings
I saw one where Stefan enters JFD into the lockbox and jfd appears grinning but doesn’t stab him, pax after he enters PAX, and the p.a.c.s. sequence
I saw each of these endings twice, interspersed with clips of Stefan working on the game and speaking with dr Haynes, cutting her off to say “just call” himself before she does
Eventually it changed and Stefan went to the record store, picked up the two records and chose Bermuda Triangle without any prompt
Then it kept looping around Stefan asking for a sign, yelling at his dad, and him at his therapist saying that he’s been through this before and telling her to up his meds
Another few sequences continued eventually the show just exited to the bandersnatch netflix menu on my phone
The whole “choiceless” sequence went on for maybe a little over a half hour before it quit, and once I resumed, it offered me choices again
I’m not sure if Netflix quit out on me, or if the unexpected exit was meant to happen
Or even if the lack of choices was meant to happen? Even tho it seemed fairly deliberate
But it was really eerie after choosing for so long to suddenly be at the mercy of the looping narrative, same as Stefan
***Edit: additionally, as far as I remember, as the loop continued, it didn’t seem as though it was waiting for me to make a choice without showing the prompt, everything was cut together in what seemed to be a very deliberate way
There was also a point where Stefan was at the tuckersoft building, and Colin said “just skip this” before clapping and cutting to a different scene (which creeped me out, as up to this point I had been doing my best to skip between the choices)***
