“So... How was the hopsital?” Nadia asked, trying to clear the air. She’d almost missed Peter constantly hanging around her office, looking to help here or to be invisible there. She never quite knew what to make of the kid, he always just kind of stood at the edge of her vision, the son of the police captain, who Nadia could never shake. She just wished that he’d just be good for a while instead of doing dumb petty crimes the second he got the chance.
She looked across the room. “Want to, like, talk about it? See anything weird? Like, someone said they heard someone in the fire, just talking normally. Which is crazy, but, if I can get someone to corroborate? It’d be at least a bit of a lead.” She thought back to the day she’d gone to the hopsital. “Did you get the candy I left you? I... kind of broke into the hospital and left you some skittles, hope they helped?”
