Peter Elliot is a Melbourne architect who commenced his practice in 1975. He interested in public realm which mainly on contemporary architecture and urban design. He has design some architectural buildings and urban design practices. The practices become diverse in range of work for government department and agencis, institutions and education as well. One of his work is RMIT University Lawn Precinct.
The purpose behind this project is to form an unusual suite of urban spaces and built fabric. It has been mentioned by Peter Elliot that "As a place, University lawn is a quite haven within the bustling city, a protected and define space with a sunny northern exposure. It is a pivotal projects as it dramatically opens up, repairs, and then adds a new urban venue which unites several pathways crossing the campus. A significant aspect of the remaking of University Lawan was the rebuilding of new fronts onto the backs of all the adjoining buildings". It brings new energy and activities to University Lawn.
The Measurements - Plan Drawing (Scale 1:20). The whole area of the RMIT University Lawn Precinct. The area is around 16000 mm x 8000 mm.
The Measurements - Site Analysis Photos (2). . . The second part of this photos site analysis is showing some details of the wood bench, plants, the materials on the ground and the back side of the site. From this photo, we can also understand the harmony of colour used and how this combination of colour create a relaxing environment for people to sit and sometimes to sleep.
The Measurements - Site Analysis Photos Location : RMIT University Lawn Precinct Architect : Peter Elliot Architecture + Urban Design Year of Completed : 2010
The first analysis that I did is taking a photos of the site. I took a photos in a every corner within this area to get more detail understanding of the objects and its position. These photos mainly show on the front part of the site and also some details of the materials such as wood, concrete, metal and soil. The front part of the site is important because it will be the sectional elevation of the final site rendering conditions.
The measurements - Plan Sketches. It is my first drawing that I did while measure the site. I draw the plan in order to understand the site condition clearly. This drawing also can help me to understand the texture and materials used as because there are several different type of material used in this site. Thus, it becomes easier for me to approach for final drawing of plan and sectional elevation.
