Levi froze, staring at the bouquet of flowers held out to him. Diamond rings weren't very practical in the field, so it had become tradition for those among the Survey Corps to simply offer roses as a gift of proposal.
He was fond of Petra, that he had long since accepted, but he had written his feelings of as unrequited. There was no way someone as bright, young, and full of life as Petra could see him in the same light.
His hand reached out, shakily taking the flowers as a smile tugged at his mouth, fuller than one he'd shown in years. A genuine smile, born of happiness and incredulity, not blood lust and adrenaline.
