Do pets tell us when they want to cross, part 2
Before you read this blog, please read the blog prior to this one. Do pets tell us when they want to cross.
Euthanasia is a hard word to swallow isn’t it? For those of you who have listened to your heart, and have bravely tread down that path, I commend you, for it is one of the most heart ripping decisions we will have to make in our lives as pet owners. I have had to face this decision four times in my life, and have had to deal with the tragic and untimely death of two others, with four pets still left in my care or should I say, still hear fulfilling their soul contract with me.
I remember the first time I had to face death of a pet, it was our first dog together, a beautiful red Doberman named Sheena. Sheena decided it was her time to cross at the young age of seven. This was about fourteen years ago, and she had laid the foundation for my spiritual growth of understanding the cycle of the life and death and how NOT to deal with it. We were in the prime of our lives and never had to face death before, so we did what most did, and dropped her off at the vets and let him do it without us being there. To this day I grieve over that mistake. But, like I said she had taught us the decision to not be there, was much harder and long lasting than if we would have braved it out.
Since then I have learned so much with my pet teachers and as a collective conscious we all are learning by them. I think right now, only two days after having to make that decision again with Guido, one of the hardest parts of his crossing is the guilt that I am still alive and my pet is gone. But, that is wrong thinking, and we are learning to not grieve their death, but to celebrate their life and the completed contract and job well done! But, dang that is tough to do.
When Lucky my horse, tragically died, (who inspired my Dragonhorse books), I thought it was the end for me too. I wanted nothing more than to follow him. I was ready to give up this lifetime. But, my time here was not done and thankfully he came back to give me that message and to assure me he was blissfully happy. They are all blissfully happy and carry no grudges after they cross…So at that point in time, I knew he was teaching me yet, even across the threshold of our different dimensions.
When it was our time with Guido, I hadn’t realized that his job not only to teach me unconditional love like all of them come here to do, but to teach me about myself. You see I had no self-love and I felt unworthy. Guido latched on to me and never let go, he was at my side always and if I let him he would be content to lay and sleep in my arms 24/7. Even in his old age, with no hearing he had the ability to know when I had left the room, and would wake out of a snoring sleep to find me and wait outside the bathroom door, or at the end of the bed while I dressed, or at the back door when I went outside. But, there came a point in his old age after stepping on him a few times, or kicking him across the floor because I did not see him, I became annoyed with his attachment disorder.
You see our pets can mirror back to us that which we feel about ourselves. And I was feeling unloved and unworthy of love and he was showing me THAT with HIS disorder. He was supporting me and showing me that yes, I was loved and worthy of it! But, as usual did not learn this lesson until after his crossing.
I am always looking for answers or looking to see what other people are experiencing and learning about. So the first night after his crossing I hit the YouTube channel. And as it was contracted, I found exactly what it was I needed. Thank God for internet! I found a channel about afterlife for pets and the guest was a woman who was an animal communicator and expert on soul contracts. I too am an animal communicator but not yet at her level and was intrigued by what she had to say. I resonated with every word and could see Guido nodding his head at me in approval. I was so very relieved to find out that in fact, I already knew, but only needed confirmation that our pets do pick their own time to cross, be it good or bad. And yes, if we allow ourselves to explore this time, we will find we have learned from it, be it good or bad. Remember, we were not with Sheena when she crossed and I had graduated from that lowly place, all the way to actually hearing my beloved pets request to cross! What a huge leap of spiritual growth that was, and it took many experiences and facing the challenge no matter how I just wanted to run and not deal with what was at hand.
So this morning . . . I am painfully looking back at the last fourteen years with Guido. I desperately searched for the lessons learned, and where I needed more work, I examined my not so great moments with him, and then forwarded to the end of his days to see if I had in fact learned a little more about unconditional love.
His last year was a rough one, he lost his hearing and his eyesight was minimal at best. Taking him for walks just sent him in a panic to run across the yard or down the driveway looking for me. His teeth needed constant care and he had many of them pulled, which was traumatic for him. His obsession with food had become frustrating since he knew when I was in the kitchen and was constantly under foot. I am sure you have been there and know the challenges of senior pets. But, I finally settled in with his extra needs and consciously worked on my frustrations, and soon his issues no longer bothered me. Picking him up to put him on my bed to watch TV, or checking to make sure he was nowhere near my feet when I walked, giving him an extra treat etc., became a labor of love! I had learned about what unconditional love meant, even with the challenges and extra duties with our senior pets.
See, for me it was a subconscious fear issue, subconsciously I knew he was getting closer to crossing even though the conscious Denice really thought she had at least two more years with him. So at first, when receiving those subliminal messages from Guido that he was working on his soul releasing to cross, I was angered at him and fearing the inevitable of losing my lifeline of fourteen years!
But, like I said, in the end I learned to help him release his soul contract with me, and when the time came, I did what he had requested even though it tore out a piece of my heart.
Nights are really tough and that is when I do most of my crying. This morning I woke to his whimper to be let out to go potty, but soon realized the truth. I write these words through the haze of tears but know that I cry for our time together, and what he had taught me. His time and service is acknowledged. I thank him for the messages to help me deal; yesterday I looked out my bathroom window at his place under the diva tree, and the tree suddenly exploded with activity from about ten different birds. One bird in particular, the flicker made his presence known and called to my window. I do know the flicker well and have flicker feathers attached to my staff along with hawk and horse hair from Lucky, Sterling and Aragon. (For those of you who read my books, know who they are) Flicker speaks of a time of rapid growth and trust, and healing love, and a new sensitivity of the heart that is awakening. For me I get the message, and know what the message brings.
Last night I remembered that our pets, when with us, live in the spiritual world and our world at the same time. They must in order to stay the course and keep sight of the bigger picture in order to fulfill their life’s work contract with us; the soul contract. I told Guido that I too was now ready to step into the world of “seeing the bigger picture” this new time of growth for me. I am open to it and now accept that next phase coming in my life as animal communicator. Guido has gone over to now be my guide in that new phase. This is nothing new to me, since I have always had this ability and the ability to help our animals heal. I just have carried a block, that deep seated fear which has not allowed me to totally embrace that which I am all the years prior.
So, I thank my beloved little Guido, for he is not done with me yet. And I look forward to our future together and welcome the challenges and steps upward. I am growing and evolving as a human and owe it all to my teachers, those who have gone before me and who are still with me now doing their part to guide me ever upward during the remaining years of my soul contract.
