cluedo (alternatively clue) is a board game that has been here for... quite a while actually! it's seen quite a few adaptations and updates throughout the years.
it's a murder mystery where six suspects navigate a mansion to find out who killed mr. boddy (the recently deceased), where they killed him aka what room, and with what weapon. it's turn-based, with scarlett going first and plum going last, each having their strategical advantages with starting locations.
finding out the solution to the murder comes in the form of deduction. everyone is dealt cards telling them what's not the correct suspect/room/weapon, and so they try to get into a room to make a suggestion based on their hand, asking to see if someone shows them a card they don't already have. you can also take notes even if you're not the one being forced to show a card or making a suggestion.
if you're convinced you know how the murder occurred, you go to the center room and make your accusation. you then check to see if you're correct. if you are, you win; if you're not, then you have to sit out the rest of the game.
some variations of the game change how the game plays, such as the vcr game having multiple murders in one round and asking you to figure out the victim and which player is what suspect.
