#pewey hate

ok so like. i'm kind of conflicted right now. pearl x mayor dewey is supposed to be really gross (and tbh i think it is gross), and i always assumed it was because of the age gap thing mostly. but then i realized rose and greg would've been weird using that rule, and now pearl is interested in a human while still being thousands of years old. do people just hate pearl x mayor dewey because of the age gap? is it bc pearl's a lesbian? what are we all missing here

Pearl is a lesbian. By shipping her with any male character, in this case Mayor Dewey, you’re erasing this fact. I personally don’t like the ship, but please don’t bother or attack anyone who does. Just be kind to one another!

Well homophobia amongst pewey shippers makes gross homophobic pairings like it more valued over Pearl being with girls because Pearl is a lesbian and shit stains think they can fix her. There should be more Pearlrose fics yeah

I think I also said this here but I think my main beef with p/ew/ey shippers is that they make Pearl and Dewey so out of character that they’re nearly unrecognizable. They distort all the shit to the point where it’s embodying unhealthy heteronormative relationships. They have Pearl fitting a troupe of submissive flirtatious girl and Dewey as a suave man with a lot of power. That kind of stuff makes me incredibly uncomfortable and totally distorts Pearl but also the character of Dewey. Bill Dewey is a great character but I feel like the existence and manifestation of p/ew/ey in the way it is ruins the image of the character
