Stranger behind my eyes

Sitting in a puddle of dart red blood, Peyton idly ran his hand along the long gash at his side, and then lifted the hand to his face, taking a swipe at his palm with his tongue. The man who'd caught him with his sword was dead and gone, back and neck broken leaving him in a crumpled mess off to Peyton's side.

He knew he should clean himself up, bandage the wound and go home but ...

It was so mesmerizing.

Peyton Verse

In a world where Gwen died in his web, Harry was sent away to Ravencroft and Peter left alone with nothing but his thoughts the webshooter sat in a depression that lasted months, before he returned as Spider-man to defeat the Rhino.

But the festering depression didn't lift; and with every life he failed to save, and every criminal that got away that dark cloud grew and grew with no outlet. 

A year after Gwen's death while walking home from school he's drugged by someone he thought was a friend from college, and wakes up in a strange room, stripped to his boxers. the man had befriended Peter just to see if he'd get to meet spider-man eventually kidnapping the 19 year old in hopes the hero would save his photographer.

Of course it doesn't happen and eventually the kidnapper turns to violence, cutting into Peter for failing him - and then worse. 

Peter snaps, breaking free and snapping the idiots neck in a single crazed move and then sits there dazed for a long time. 

Since then the pieces haven't gone back together, instead sliding farther apart and breaking into each other as they went, Peter sliding more and more into a crazed insanity. He still is kind and good and for the betterment of New York but can't help himself when he takes the random murderer to that same subsection of the sewers he'd once been kept and ripping into them until he was dripping in blood. 

He's broken nearly beyond repair. Can you fix him?
