sitting at the front desk after becoming a librarian was the absolute worst. he hated it then and he hated it now. it might be an overstatement as he did enjoy the moments he was able to personally recommend a book to someone, but that didn't happen often. people would come in without a book name or author and expect him to just know what they're looking for and that annoyed him.
he could feel someone or something hovering around the front desk as he focused on the computer in front of him. "one moment." he stated without looking up. he was used to feeling peoples presence near him, but he wasn't one to look up unless he was done with what he was doing. "alright, what can i help you with?" he asked, his eyes finally landing on whoever had been there only to see the face of emerson. "sorry, i- hi." his voice was breathy as he straightened up, "what can i do for you today?"
