Just a little bean ❤️
Sorry the babyz trapped me
I've been working on my babyz site, Puddleducks, so petz and tumblr took a backseat. Should resume meeting my backlog of petz soon.
Anyway, 8/9 of the critters keeping me away from petz right now
Still love Petz, and will return to meeting/introducing all 1,500ish of the ones remaining to be photographed, but Babyz is *definitely* my favourite PF Magic game right now.
Probably because I've actually managed to keep decently on top of meeting everyone so it feels less overwhelming 😄
Cottontail Cat
I think it's done cooking and ready for public release! I think my age might have been in single digits when I started making this, and then I wake up every few years to tweak it, but I think we're done.
Download (Unibreed) || Hatless alt (Unibreed) - remove HATLESS from file name when using hatless alt
Cottontail is not based on anything in particular, I just really wanted to make a silly cartoony weird cat, with a simplified face, skinny legs, big clawed paws & a massive tail. And flattened ears to accommodate various hats, like the Wild West host.
Variations:
3 base colors, black/gray/white with black being more common
3 detail colors, white/gray/black, with white being more common
1 in 3 cats has unfuzzy paws
1 in 3 cats will have reversed eye sizes
3x3x2x2=36 variations
Other features:
Based on Russian Blue
Unibreed (Petz 3-5)
Base version comes out of the AC wearing one of 5 hats - Sheriff Hat, Cowboy Hat, White Fedora, Top Hat or Outlaw Hat. Make sure you have all the base game hats where they belong, otherwise I think it might crash the game. I added a hatless version just in case, I don't use Petz 3 much and I think it might not have all the necessary hats.
Default name: Lemur
Kittens come out of the AC with normal eyes and ears, they get weirder as they grow. This is a quirk of just editing the adult form in PetWorkshop and never bothering to adjust the kitten form, but I think it's a fun feature tbh
Very fun to mix with other breeds! The ears look weird with some of the faces, but that's part of the fun.
Known issues (probably wont be fixed):
2nd Generation kittens might have fuzzy claws. I tried fixing it but I don't think I ever really did. Maybe using ones with non-fuzzy paws for breeding might help, idk, it's just that they inherit fuzziness from paws sometimes.
I think being unibreed cuts off some personality traits? I haven't gotten into personality hexing yet. Maybe one day I'll make a version with customized personality.
i made lestat de lioncourt in the 1999 pf magic game "babyz" so that we can all watch him throw actual baby tantrums
download him here (clothes and props not included)
This Harrier file from Cait@Finishing Touch Kennels seems truly lost. I've found messages from PKC people commenting on how no dogz from this file/breed seem to have ever been registered, and they're not sure when/if the file was ever up for download. But there was a message that made me think, from a breed acceptor commenting on how a Harrier is basically a Foxhound so with permission you could edit one of those files down and a Harrier file would be born. So I tried to do that with my favourite English Foxhound file from Carrie@Fishwife (as well as others). Carrie kindly allows anyone to use her files with credit, which is very wonderful for someone like me. I only decided to do this because I assume if no one else has commented on this in years, and no one really noticed/cared before, there's not many "real" hexers who want to make one - so I need to do it myself.
I have a few versions of the file saved to play with, this one is literally just a resize - the rest I've decided to play with and see if I can wrap my head around how everything works. Don't think I'll ever seriously try to hex a breed again, but it'll be a fun experience all the same. If I were to try again, I'd probably try making a petzy file from scratch. The movement isn't bad for a showy file, but it would be nice to have one which can sit and jump without looking quite so stiff in the legs.
my new oddballz resource page is now live! the page includes a download of the full game and instructions for running on windows 10, a zip folder that includes all official eggs as well as all the hexed eggs i could find in the depths of the internet, oddballz tools, oddballz modding tutorials, and a large-ish collection of oddballz links to browse through!! please give it a look.
