Laura Flessel-Clovic, originally from Guadeloupe, is one of France’s greatest épée fencers. She is currently number one on the all-time list of French female fencers, and is known as “The Wasp” for her technique of attacking her opponents’ feet. She began fencing at age seven in Guadeloupe but emigrated to France in 1990, where she became the French junior champion in her first year of competition.
