Reason under the cut, spoiler warning

**SPOILERS FOR PANDORA HEARTS** Echo shares a body with another personality/being called Noise, and at the beginning of the manga there's some moments where Noise is referred to using he/him pronouns while Echo is referred to with she/her pronouns; in hindsight its probably just an artifact of weird translations early on (later in the manga both are referred to with she/her) and also about trying to obscure Noise's identity (the character appears cloaked early on while Echo appears uncloaked, and the fact that the two share a body is not known until partway through the series), but I personally still like to headcanon them as being amab but nonbinary (Noise) and transfem (Echo) respectively.

Both characters have identity issues, and Echo specifically was a personality created by a Chain (a kind of supernatural being characters can be bonded to) to help stabilize Noise, and their Chain, Duldee, has a feminine appearance (which stands out some because the majority of the Chains look like animals/monsters, while Duldee kind of just looks like a giant woman). She's also a character whose arc revolves around learning to be comfortable with her sense of self

Pandora Hearts: Echo - ISTJ

Echo – ISTJ:

Dominant Si: Echo has strong expectations about how things are supposed to be. She's disturbed by how Oz reacts to her, as she thinks people are supposed to be scared or wary. When he responds differently, she assumes there's something wrong with him.

Auxiliary Te: Echo prefers to judge situations based on what is generally considered to be a logical action. Earlier on, she ignores any feelings she might have on matters, preferring to decide if something makes sense or not.

Tertiary Fi: Echo gradually develops her Fi throughout the series, but it first becomes apparent when she stops Vincent from throwing Sharon's antidote off the balcony, as she finds that to be an unacceptable action.

Inferior Ne: Echo sees no potential in herself at the beginning of the series, preferring to perceive both herself and reactions to her through expectations. By the end of the series, however, she realises that she has the potential to save the people she cares for.
