HC + Pain
physical pain has always been something changsun knew how to handle. you’re dealt a fair share when you’re boxing every other day, and even then he didn’t blink an eye at the promise of a 100% chance of hurting himself. not to say that he didn’t feel it just as intensely as anyone else, but he typically knew what he was getting himself into, and that made the pain more bearable. after a while he got exceptionally good at removing himself from his physical body – as he should, because it takes a certain kind of dedication and detachment to file his wings down, by himself, each morning for an entire year. he could will himself so far from that physical situation in front of the mirror every day that he did it on routine, without extensive mental preparation. by now he is more than capable of tuning out physical pain, so long as he is well aware of how and where it hurts. then there’s emotional pain, and changsun has yet to find a way to cheat the system on that one. he will feel it, embrace it, live it – but it takes a toll on him, and he needs time to get back on his feet after going through something painful. he can learn from it, and move on from it, but it’ll be taxing. break every bone in his body and he’ll get through it like a champ. inflict significant emotional pain and he might just crumble beneath you. he’ll build himself up, but not before thoroughly breaking down.
