Invulnerability

Seated in the passenger side of the vehicle, Jongkook was feeling rather lethargic as he stared out at the uninteresting, quiet street of the Gold Zone district through the car windscreen. The air-conditioning was humming softly in the background, as the lulling voice of the radio broadcaster reverberated throughout the small enclosed area of the car interior. There was a short morning news about the recent finding of the attack during the Jindallae Festival, and Jongkook spared a quick glance at his fellow co-worker when he turned the volume up, noting his curiosity before turning his head to look outside mindlessly himself.
There was nothing new and it was still roughly the same old report that had been going on these few days, asking tourists and citizens alike to stay alert and to report any suspicious characters to the government immediately.
Shortly after, the news ended and some famous pop song began playing from the radio station. Jongkook could hear the volume being turned down considerably until it wasn’t that distracting, and he let it be, as he continued surveying the house of the champion they had been assigned to protect by the government. It was a dull and tedious duty if anything, but because of that the pay was exceptionally high as well and so he wasn’t complaining. He’s not the type of person to endlessly lament about something in any case.
There was still a long time until the next shift comes in to replace them, and Jongkook wondered if the girl was going to just remain in the house for the whole day. They had been given a rundown and all the basic information regarding the champions they were assigned to guard, including their ability. He wouldn’t be surprised either if the girl decided that staying inside was the best choice after the attack and the death of a champion.
Just as Jongkook thought it was going to be another uneventful day for them, the main door of the house opened and out came the girl who seemed like she was dressed to go out. He gave a nod to his co-worker before exiting from the car promptly, and in no time reached the girl before she could take another step out.
“Don’t be alarmed, I’m sent over by the government to guard you for the time being. You can regard me as invisible if you wish to,” he explained, an air of steady composure around him. He then gave the girl another look before moving to the side in order to let her pass.
