okay so we used shrimp for an experiment once, and we had to catch them from one tub and put them all in a cooler, and that might seem okay and all like people catch/raise shrimp all the time! like you see them in super markets and in restaurants and everywhere but you know, you never really care about how they’re like when their alive bc who actually gives a crap right?
little known fact, shrimp jump!! really high!!!!! so while you’re catching them, you have to put your hand over the net so they don’t jump out and hit your fucking face and then they flop against your hand and it’s the most disgusting thing, but of course!! nobody tells you this!! so you have these shrimp catapulting themselves into the air and then, being the stupid creatures they are, they don’t come close to the water they originally came from, so you end up having to pick them up from the ground while they’re STILL MOVING AND SQUIRMING. oh and even getting this far is a fucking miracle bc even in a contained tub, they move so fast and the water is just so dark and you have to catch 100 (!!!!) of the vile creatures.
and then when you finally end up getting enough, you come back to look at the cooler and the shrimp are FUCKING EATING EACHOTHER. LIKE STRAIGHT UP CRUSTACEAN CANNIBALISM. DO YOU UNDERSTAND HOW DAMAGING THAT CAN BE TO A CHILD WHO HAS LOVED SHRIMP THEIR ENTIRE LIFE??
oh haha!!! i forgot to mention!!!! we did this all in a greenhouse!! so like sun light comes in and the heat gets trapped inside of it so it’s like 104 degrees!!!!
do you know what the best part is?? we finally get the revolting things into the lab but someone! forgets! to! put! the! air! filter! in the tank!!!! so you come back after the weekend and 108 out of the 134 shrimp are dead :))) now of course, rotting and everything so the shrimp smell so fucking bad and every one in the room almost pass out after it being open for only about 2 seconds
