I miss this everyday....
Video of Phantom Regiment's front ensemble and battery I took (June 2015)
Was the phantom audition stressful?
Well…Yes and no.
Yes because I decided the week before auditions I was going to, and I got to auditions and there was another guy who was a really talented piano player and sent in a pre-audition video for feedback. OH and I also realized Friday night at camp (after I got there late) that I had learned all the exercises wrong WOO! SO that was pretty stressful.
It was definitely more intense than any audition I’ve ever been at for DCI or WGI, mostly because I’ve never had to audition up against anyone before for synth haha. But Regiment always takes gifted piano players. My face-to-face audition the Sunday of camp was so chill though. I spent about 25 minutes in the audition “chamber,” but I only played for like 10 and talk to Rob the rest of the time. He’s an awesome guy.
The moral of my story? Know your stuff before auditions and it’ll be great!
