I do have an wonderful English teacher that's married to a woman and very open about it. People aren't in denial about her, more like just occasional homophobic assholes, though they've gotten much better. I just think it's funny everyone thought this particular seventh grade teacher was a lesbian for the dumbest reasons.

The Mayan ruins were fantastic! I just wish that I'd had more time to spend at them, because the Coba site actually extends for about 20 square miles and I only had an hour... ; H ;

It took a while to get to the site from the ship, and I had to be back on it by 4:00, so I only got to see that one major ruin and a few smaller spots that were on the way to it. Luckily, the leader of my tour group was native and about 3/4 Maya (if I remember correctly), and he spent the ride there telling us a lot about ancient Mayan culture. It really awesome and I'm super glad that I chose the tour I did because apparently none of the other tours were educational...they were more focused on seeing the ruins and then shopping (I lost my faith in those sorts of outings when I went to Spain in high school. I missed out on seeing Salvador Dali's museum/house because my classmates wanted to shop T x T ). 

I'd love to go back and learn more about it some time. It reminded me of how obsessed I was with ancient cultures when I was little. I'd definitely allot myself more time if I tried visiting again, though.
