I went to a pharmacy museum today 🤎
I'm still crawling through the streets of New Orleans. I'll be back in a few days to ship all extant orders. Some do remain, and all proceeds are going toward getting new projects into the grinder! So order away, and help to bring about the coming onslaught.
New Orleans Pharmacy Museum
The museum is housed in the site of the apothecary of America's first licensed pharmacist. Louis J. Dufilho, Jr. was America's First Licensed Pharmacist. Dufilho’s most significant contribution to the history and integrity of the field of pharmacy took place in New Orleans in 1816.
The museum exhibits early medicines, superstitious cures, surgical instruments and questionable medical practices. Hand-blown apothecary bottles filled with crude drugs, medicinal herbs, “gris-gris” potions used by Voodoo practitioners and rare patent medicines speak of a time when pharmacists compounded their own medicines and modern medical theory was in its infancy.
