One bright spot to offset my shitty mood - I played Legacy during some downtime at the prerelease.

My round 3 opponent plays burn and I asked for a round to see how the match up was. I confessed that I thought I'd be a half turn quicker on average and damned if I wasn't. Game 1 I had the turn 2 dreadnought on the draw and misdirected a bolt back at him. Misdirection is a beast in that match up.

Poor guy sided out some cards assuming I'd have no other creatures but 2x delver told him he was dead wrong. He got me to 1 but another misdirection sealed it

Gonna start building Phasenought since the opportunity to actually play Legacy is becoming a possibility.

Ugh

I just got in a "quick" game of Legacy on Untap.In against miracles. Game 1 I conceded on turn 12 after his JtMS revealed the 4th topdecked land in a row. I saw a total of 9 lands - over half of them - wtactualf Game 2 I get a torpor orb down and then the dreadnought complete with some back up. Misdirection doesn't work without another legal target. sadface.png Counterbalance and 2x SDT lock me out on turn 1 billion. I fell asleep twice. It was still going on.

Phasenought vs Jeskai Stoneblade

I just finished a pretty fun match on Untap.In Game 1 I was able to win after jamming the dreadnought on turn 3 with misdirection back up. He manages to exile it with Council's Judgment (you have to phase before it resolves - won't make that mistake again) but my delver blindflips to soar over his TNN. Game 2 he sided in wear // tears and I spend the whole match digging after he forces my turn 1 delver. I finally get another dreadnought out but he StPs it. Game 3 he runs a Tundra into a wasteland. He ends up mama screwed and I SDT through my deck. He drops a fetch and passes and then I ran out a stiflenought. I have a 2nd stifle for his fetch. He flashes me the 3 StPs in his hand and leaves. Good times. Also, I'm glad we still have SDT. It did such good work and I love it. I also tested Jeskai Burn but I faced Grisel-cannon so I never really got to test but I did win both games with skullcrack in response to Griselbrand.

I managed to get in another legacy match on Untap.in this afternoon. My opponent was on OmniTell splashing red. Game 1 was a slog. He didn’t have any threats and I couldn’t find a creature to save my life. Around turn 8 I had finally amassed phasenought through brainstorm and SDT activations. We had a counterwar and I came out on top with daze into force into misdirection to stop his 2x force and spell pierce. He conceded.

Game 2 was over in a hurry. He had a turn 5 Show and Tell and he had 2x force backup. Game 3 was similarly over quickly. I had the nut draw. He probed me and dug as fast as he could but he didn’t have an answer to phasenought with daze and force behind it.

We talked about my deck and he thought I had tweaked Greg Hatch’s mono U martyr list. I told him I wasn’t familiar so he sent me this link. I really enjoy the deck but really, it’s the coverage that really puts it over the top. 10/10 - would watch again

Legacy brainstorming

So I often think of how to improve my legacy decklist (phasenought). The main issue is my creature count is low: 4 Delver 4 Dreadnought 2 Judge's Familiar How should I increase this while staying mono-U? The thought I had today was Nivmagus Elemental. The bird is handy in that it can be a force spike if necessary (which a lot of players forget about) and it's pitchable to Force. Nivmagus Elemental is also pitchable to Force, an absolute requirement, but it can be a huge beat stick. Obviously I'd rather have a turn 1 Delver but a 1/2 which can easily be pumped if I lose a counter war seems decent. The biggest concern with switching to NME is that it would almost require picking up flusterstorms that I can't afford. Am I crazy or does this seem like something to explore?

Legacy on Untap.In

I've had my deck be called a bad Delver deck which is probably fair. What I truly love though is that Delver decks are one of my best matchups. If I can resolve the dreadnought, they almost always immediately concede. This was true back at the GP and it's still true now.

Thinking of picking up some acid rains for Phasenought. I already run vision charm and, while my cmc is usually 1 or 2 outside of pitch spells, the idea of a one sided Armageddon sounds hilarious. Maybe just keep it as a sideboard card against decks without vial and a lot of countermagic
