I’ve got this mature aged student in one of my classes. Actually he’s been in my class before, for another subject. Honestly, he’s a perfectly pleasant bloke - not ‘one of those’ mature aged students at all. He’s a nice student to have. But I think he’s trying to make friends with me. Not in a skeevy way, or anything, and we probably could be friends. But. It’s not that I’m uncomfortable so much as it’s like, oh mate, how do I put this? Fun, upbeat, intellectually engaged Tutor Shazza is not who I am when I’m off the clock. If you want to get a beer with me after semester, all you are going to get are the horrors of post-PhD existence and the cocktail of popular culture I use to escape them, not enlightened philosophical discussion.

So anyway, today is the anniversary of submitting my thesis... That disappeared fast. I feel like I’ve got almost nothing done since then o.o
