@phdna tumblr isnt letting me reply from my activity because its a piece of garbage but in answer to your question:

in this episode Sam and Dean visit their mom’s grave and while there notice all the vegetation around some girl’s grave is dead. they at some point deduce someone has tried to raise her from the dead and they go to check her coffin and they find it empty. they notice there are greek symbols carved onto her casket and Dean recognized the symbols as ones he’d seen in the office of the dead girl’s father who is a classics professor. the symbols are ones used in a ritual for necromancy.

in this scene they are confronting the girls father and Dean is particularly enraged at the man and screaming that ‘whats dead should stay dead’ (or something like that) and Sam is trying to calm Dean down because he notices that the plants in the dad’s home are all healthy and alive so it couldnt have been him that performed the ritual.

(dean is so angry because this takes place not long after dean’s father sacrifices his life to bring dean back from the dead so him screaming about ‘what’s dead should stay dead’ was in reference to that)
