The Volkfolks or Pheradin

While Pheradin has some humans here and there, the majority of the population are Volkfolks or 'werewolves'. There are 4 types of wolf-people:

Volkolaks: Usually can be seen with blond to brown hair/fur most easons, their hair/fur turns white during winter season.

Lycantropes: They have rather shortish fur in their full wolf form and tend to have the widest range in terms of hair/fur colors, from dark black, to platinum blond passing through bright reds and blues too.

Werewolfs: Their hair/fur as well as their skin tend to always be on the darker side. In full form they tend to be bigger and fluffier than any other breed.

Kitsunes: Despite looking more fox-like they are still very much part of the Volkfolk species (they are capable of giving birth to children capable of reproducing, in contrast humans cannot and the rare time a child is produced they remain infertile). Kitsune's apprerances are quite striking since they can be seen having multiple tails and retain their hair when in complete wereform

Koritaraptors

PHeradin had many odd creatures roamin the lands but Koritaraptors are the most notable. Not just because of their look but also their cultural relevance. In Pheradin, when a Volkfolk reach 18 them and a group of older adult go hunt Koritaraptor chicks. One only officially become an adult after successfully getting a Koritaroptor tail. They then dye it and add it to their outfit as a permanent accessory.

Cucurbeetacines

Named after the cucurbitacé shape they have when full, these bees are quite peculiar. They aren't like our bees, they don't live in hive nor listen to a queen. they fill themselves with honey they feed on for long periods of times. They will go through the following cycle:

They spend a couple weeks of nearly constant feeding,

They will sit completely still up in a tree for about a month to convert all the nectar (and occasionally blood) they collected in their pouch to convert it into honey.

Once full of mature honey they will then spend the next four month or so building nests for their potential future youngs, Socialize to find a mate.

They have a month-long pregnancy filled with eggs and larvaes before they burst open like a balloon. The males and Female who didn't get to mate will start again at step 1. On average these bees can survive up to 3 cycles before dying of old age.

Wurburs are yet another type of oversized insects. They might look scary but they are actually harmless. They eat almost exclusively rotten fruits that the collect and store in fermentation chambers in their caves, which is rumored to be how the Volkfolks learned about alcohol.

They live in moist caves and have asocial structure somewhat similar to ants. They have a queen that lay eggs almost daily, a massive population of female workers and a small pool of male soldiers. When the queen die a random worker will grow into a new queen and a soldier will grow into a king. Like mantids, the queen will eat the king once she has been fertilized.

The fluff around their necks might look like feathers but they are more similar to moth antennaes

Hemomirth - better known as "Dropping Terrors" - are flightless bats that lives in colonies up in the trees. At night they will drop down and latch onto any living creatures that walks by. They use their claws to hold on tight and strings their prey with their tail filled with paralyzing neurotoxins. Once their target is unable to fight back they will then suck their blood, depending on how big or small the prey is this could be fatal. They can drink up to a full liter of blood in one night.

Bearded Striders looks quite similar to spiders but are quite different. For one they do not have 8 legs and instead of producing one string of silk from the tip of their abdomen, they instead grow their thick silk like a mammal grows hair.

These creatures were domesticated thousands of years ago for said silk and since many sub-bread have been created:

The common brown colored ones that create the lowest quality silk that account for the bulk of the fabric people have access to.

The white ones that are reserved for people with more money to spare since that silk can be dyed much more easily (brown silk can be died to but the colors are either muddy or need to be bleached first with is time consuming and deteriorate the silk quality).

The black silk variants but they are very rare and expensive.

There are even "pocket breeds" that bareby brows any bigger than a standard breed's baby and some nobles keep them as pets.

It's also not uncommon for people to use the raw silk fibers to make wigs.

Bearded Strider's large and strong abdomen makes for a nice place to put cargo on but because of their terribly slow speed they aren't used as mount or mules.

Krokers are the second most important animal in Pheradin. They are easy preys that don't hibernate during winter and their winter fur is highly sought after to make warm clothes. Volkfolk could survive year-round solely on Krokers if necessary.

Krokers are solitary creatures who enjoy digging tunnels and burrows during fall seasons. In the winter when the soil is to hard and frozen they spend more time on the surface to find mates. Come spring they males are back to living alone while females can expect giving birth to a litter and spend the up coming year caring for them.

Due to their size, their tunnels tend to be temporary. The heavy rains of early springs tend to make the dirt soft and slippy enough to cause most of them to collapse. It's rumored that in some region Krokers are smart enough to use branches to create primitive support beams to keep their tunnels working all year long.
