Aaand Jerath and Pheres, even though they just met?
OKAY, SO LET’S GET THIS OUT OF THE WAY: Pheres’s willingness to forgive characters of their bad behaviour largely relies on if he thinks they’re hot or not.
Unfortunately, Jerath does not his his standards at all.
Pheres thinks he’s a cerulean who’s trying to raise above his station by pulling rank on him. He’s proud of Videle for managing to become matesprits with a blueblood, but his constant thoughts, towards Jerath, could be summarised as “she could do better” - he is a caste that’s scraping the bottom of the barrel of acceptable blue hues, trying to act like he’s navy.
His aggression, his terseness, Pheres’s perception of him as condescending and threatening all set him at edge. I forget if Pheres actually knows that Jerath is a raider, but that would not add to his opinion, unfortunately. Dude does not want to be in a room with Jerath right now. He doesn’t even particularly want to be in the same building.
.. unless he thinks he can leech more money out of him, at which point Pheres’s perspective will change from “actively dangerous, slightly unpleasant, avoid” to “actively dangerous, slightly unpleasant, but how can I turn this situation to my advantage?”
