the official publishing order is the way to go so start with the farseer trilogy! i do recommend reading the novella the wilful princess and the piebald prince somewhere mid fool's errand (first book of the tawny man trilogy) for maximum impact on your soul! i will give a warning for depictions/mentions of rape in the liveship traders and the rain wild chronicles so you aren't going in unaware!

haha it's a joke about my preference for plato's anti-theatre arguments over aristotle's pro-theatre ones which i have complicated feelings about (i had to read the republic and the poetics too many times at uni). it's just a saucy little joke i came up with to follow in the footsteps of an old tumblr that went by the url farmers-against-thespians. it's meant to be ironic (but some days i do think theatre is fucking stupid)!
if you don’t mind my asking, how did u get into dramaturgy?? i love theatre and i love researching & putting things into context, but i didnt go to school for it, so i have no idea where to begin :’))
okay to be fair i did go to school for theatre history so it was basically my degree. but i got the gig i'm doing by applying for an emerging artist festival as an opportunity to get some experience. if you wanna get introduced to it i recommend reading dramaturgy the basics by anne m. hamilton and walter byongsok chon and the art of dramaturgy by anne cattaneo. also check out the literary managers and dramaturgs of the americas (lmda.org) if you live in the americas. they have scalable prices for becoming a member and then you can get access to their databases about dramaturgy. but yeah i got lucky and took two dramaturgy classes at uni, but those are the most important resources i got directed towards in those. also just read lots of theatre theory and history. i recommend checking out marvin carslons theories of theatre and theatre/theory/theatre by daniel gerould they are both kinda dense but ya gotta do the research and it sounds like you have the passion for it!
