Especially with summers getting hotter and dryer in a lot of places, solar panels in agricultural fields is a really good idea. Sheltering vegetables from the hottest, driest time of the day will help them grow better. Cows and sheep and such seek out shelter from the sun. I think I recall reading that they found higher biodiversity in pastures that had solar panels because of the shelter they provide.

Verity's role in the Tawny Man trilogy is so fascinating to me because it's such an inverse of his role in the Farseer trilogy. There, he's utterly haunted by Chivalry's absence. He's plainly a second-choice backup to his brother, the unarguably better king. Fitz doesn't see him that way, but it's evident.

But in the Tawny Man, suddenly HE is the lost king of legend, off page but present. Suddenly, HE is the father whose son never knew him. It's Verity's reputation that Dutiful has to live up to, and his resemblance people look for. It's his turn to haunt the narrative.

Some of this is Robin Hobb's love of cyclical storytelling and generational repeating of mistakes, but it's also tied to Fitz's changing role in the narrative. For the first trilogy, his association with Chivalry is a massive weight. He's compared to him constantly, and he's seen as a genuine threat in terms of succession as the rightful king's only son - a would be king himself. But because of the role he has played as Catalyst to change the world, the path has shifted. Now, he's able to walk Buckkeep mostly unnoticed and unrecognized. He's the bastard of an abdicated prince from the previous generation, and few people alive even remember his face.

Verity sort of becomes Chivalry, Dutiful sort of becomes Verity, and Fitz stays Fitz, but has changed what it means to be Fitz. Robin Hobb knows cyclical narratives like nobody EVER has.
