The beautiful flatworm Cestoplana australis and the nudibranch Phidiana lynceus!
Isla de Cozumel, Mexico 2019
Name: Phidiana indicus
My personal name: Flame-tipped slug
Location: Tropical Indo-West Pacific
Size: 1.5-10 cm (Yeah, yeah, it’s a huge range, but that’s the information that I found so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)
Diet: Hydroids
Identification help: P. indica is often confused with Phidiana militaris. P. indica can be distinguished, however, by the white lines on its head, since P. militaris has orange lines on its head
Name: Phidiana hiltoni
My personal name: Hairy slug
Location: Central coast of California to Baja California, Mexico, Gulf of Mexico
Size: Up to 5 cm long
Diet: Feeds on hydroids
Interesting fact: This slug baby is anything but innocent; born with a fire in their soul, P. hiltoni is known for attacking other aeolids, including members of its own kind. Other hairy babies beware!!
