The Ward 8 Democrats held an endorsement forum this Saturday for the DC Council Chairman position. Candidates Calvin Gurley and write-in John Cheeks, both of which are running for their second seat in public office this year were present along with incumbent Phil Mendelson. Neither of the two were even close to being top contenders in their previous races so I didn’t quite understand the purpose of entertaining them.
