"Therefore, everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock." - Matthew 7:24-25
I don't know if I quoted the bible correctly, but I got this quote in my email from a foundation called Stella's Voice. Although in their emails they always mention Jesus or Christianity or whatever it is that they preach, I find that people like this do restore my faith in humanity.
Whenever religion crops up, I have an awful feeling that the conversation will steer in such a direction that no one wants to admit. That it really isn't going to be a conversation anyone will walk out of happily. But Stella's Voice and Philip Cameron's continual emails about the progress with the funding that they obtain from donors and how they are saving so many girls and doing their best to shelter as many as possible and helping them step up from poverty...it gives me hope that there will be a better world out there (Run on sentence, sorry).
Whoever isn't aware of Stella's Voice, I've got a link on my page, and if you're seriously too lazy to do that...here's a link:
http://www.stellasvoice.org/
I don't have money to donate right now, but when I'm on my feet and am capable, I will donate to this great cause and help other people get off their feet as I would appreciate others to do for me if I were in their position.
Best of luck to Stella's Voice, and thank you to Philip Cameron for updating me constantly...even if I am just another person on your mailing list, it gives me faith in humanity: ourselves and others; that love is the answer.
But relating to the quote itself;
I often have a habit of asking for advice and never taking it, my own personal step is to try to remember people's advice and use it as I see fit. A recent comment that I put on reddit received a lot of responses, and I am taking into consideration much of what other redditors have to say, and I feel much better about myself as I recognize that I am not alone as is anyone else.
I try to make sure those I love and care about, my dearest family and friends, that I will do my best to be the shoulder of which they may cry upon, and I will appreciate it just as much if that were them for me.
