💚
philodendron silver.
Back to the start on my philodendron silver. I had noticed that the long vine wasn’t doing so well since we moved, and finally realized it was because the vine had been damaged near the rim of the pot- likely from moving. Trimmed the ailing vine off, cut it into several sections, and put them with my other cuttings (we’ll see if they take or not) but noticed today that there is already a new vine growing from where the other had broken (because of course the plant knew long before I did) and was also pleased to see that the cutting I had grouped with the original vine when I repotted a few months ago is finally established enough that the leaf size is getting bigger.

A bit of sun finally came out today.

Some October plant updates- garden (or the two rows I did plant this year) is doing well, peas sprouted quickly and are growing vigorously though I think they might need some help on getting to the fence. Salad mix doing its thing.
Asparagus fern Ming sent out some new growth that looks really good, and the African milk tree is also looking happier (that probably has something to do with not being pushed over by Syrup every few weeks...). The new growth on the recently shortened philodendron silver looks to be coming in strong as well. I have two of the cuttings away because they had already produced roots!

Some of the new things I noticed during today’s plant maintenance-
(1) It’s hard to see in the photo but it looks like the fern’s roots are poking into the false bottom on the Reissdorfer glass which is exciting because that means there’s been a lot of root growth. (2) I took a cutting from my philodendron silver a while ago and it’s nice to see that the mother plant (which is a cutting I took from my philodendron silver back in Colorado by the way!) is already sending out some new growth in its place. (3) The string of tears I brought back from Colorado went through a bad patch so I took some cuttings just for the heck of it and they already have roots, which again just shows how much things want to survive even in hardship. (:

Repotted my philodendron silver yesterday because I was having issues with mold in the soil and it was impacting the plant’s growth, and also to move him into a slightly bigger container. I gave the roots a rinse before moving him into the new container and new soil, and was pretty amazed at how tentative that root structure is- really hanging on by a thread! Planted him in the new container along with a rooting I’d had for a while to give him a friend. Also took a few more cuttings just to trim him back some more and because why not.
