I found a #palmatenewt #triturushelveticus hibernating adult in a crevice on the wall in our side-alley this #evening. It must be using the cover of our #hederahelix, #vinca and woodchip as a long term #winter refuge. I'll be keeping an eye out in the evening to see whether its around. They are #philopatric so it must be returning to its #birthplace to breed at some point in my neighbours #pond as i've heard that #newts reside there. Seeing these make me desire to become a #conservationist again but as a career and study #ecology academically. (at Coombe Dingle, Bristol)
