The urge to make a blog dedicated to my OCs, even though I probably absolutely don’t have enough on them for a full blog
✨- How did you come up with the OC’s name? for all of them
Brie: I remember wanting a cute, but sort of obscure nickname. I kept thinking of Brie Larson, for some reason, so it stuck
Harry: Mamma Mia. That’s it, that’s the inspo. Kept hearing Meryl breathing out a cute little, “Harry!”, so I went with it
Sandy (Brie’s late husband): this one I don’t quite remember. I’m pretty sure I based it off whatever tv show I was watching at the time
Brie’s Siblings:
Alecia: this one is hilarious. I was watching a P!nk best moments video on YouTube, and she kept saying “my name is Alecia”. I needed a name for Brie’s sister, so that’s how she was named 😂
Buddy: I think this one just popped in my head. But also I wanted to use that line from What’s Up, Doc? (Starring Ryan O’Neil and Barbra Streisand): “Eunice? There’s a person named Eunice?” But obviously swap Eunice for Buddy
Brie’s Bestie and Lover and Crush:
Phoebe Bingham: I was watching a Simon & Simon episode and the girl who ran away was named Phoebe. I completely ripped her from the episode (design and first name only). Not sure how I came up with the last name though
(Side note: that Simon & Simon episode inspired my very first original story on AO3)
Brie’s Parents:
Willow: this either came from Midsomer Murders, Buffy, or Taylor’s song, Willow. Could be any.
Alan: I don’t know honestly
Candy: that’s like the token blonde, bitchy Mean Girl TM name. Right?
Harry’s Siblings:
Crissy: honestly? She’s named after one of my good friends.
Anna: I like the name
Billy:
Matthew: needed a biblical name. Nicknamed Matty
Zoey: needed a name that rhymes with Cloey
Cloey: I had just read about a Cloey the previous day. Also I like the name
Jesse: again, needed a Biblical name
Harry’s parents:
Harold: Harry’s namesake
Elaine: inspired by Lainie Kazan. Went in between Esther and Elaine a lot. Ultimately chose Elaine ‘cause of the ABBA song
And in case Anyone was interested:
Linda’s parents + grandma:
Rosita: Linda’s grandma. I needed an Italian name that could be Linda’s name sake. (Linda Rose)
Tony: Linda’s dad. I needed to stick with the Italian, even though I always think of New York Italian mobs when I hear this name in my head
Marni: Linda’s mom. I just like it

What ever happens to David? And does Alec know about Phoebe having his son?
Glad you asked! Alec knows about David's true parentage from the start - he asks Phoebe early on in David's life due to the fact that he resembles Alec slightly and his supposed father Hudson not even a little, and Phoebe tells him. However, Phoebe is very strict about keeping Alec out of David's life, and Alec and David only ever have one real conversation wherein Alec offers then-teenage David the opportunity to be his heir and inherit his vast and bloodsoaked fortune. David, who hates Alec's guts, turns him down immediately.
As for David's fate, he lives a remarkably ordinary life for a man with origins like his own. He learns to play the trumpet as a child and devotes a lot of time after his mother's passing to making sure the music she wrote lives on, carrying on her legacy by teaching music when he's not working in the family tailoring business.
What if Isabelle had 1/2 siblings?
Not sure if this means "half siblings" or "one or two siblings", so I'm gonna answer what I find more interesting: half siblings.
Isabelle does have half siblings! Alec is fairly responsible when it comes to condom usage but, especially in his twenties, slipped up now and then or just experienced a condom failure. As a result Isabelle has at least two older half-siblings who are relevant to the story, although very likely they have more than that. David, Alec's child by Phoebe Bingham, was born two years before Isabelle; Edward, Alec's child by Lorna Webster, was born one year before Isabelle.
But who knows? Maybe I'll cook up some more! The upsides of Alec fucking here there and everywhere.
MAKE YOUR MARK
"There's only so long she can hold out, and she knows it."
A new fic is out! in "Make Your Mark", we see things through Phoebe Bingham's eyes as her mob enforcer lover, Alec Underwood, introduces her to sadomasochism and D/s. Featured are flogging, spanking, oral, and two people who have no idea what they're doing trying to negotiate a kink dynamic. Enjoy here!
Anonymous asked: I think it's weird how your only black characters are subservient to Alec in some way. POC are only worthwhile in your story centered around whiteness and privilege if they're abused or controlled apparently? It feels deliberate
I don't agree with the equivalence of "POC = Black", but for your purposes we can focus on the two major Black characters I've named so far in the narrative of Alec, Viola, and Isabelle Underwood: Clemency Holt and Phoebe Bingham. For those unfamiliar, Clemency is the priest who performs Isabelle's abortion when she's fifteen; Phoebe is Alec's longtime lover, who eventually leaves him when they're both in their fifties or so after decades of an on/off affair. As another Black character, there's Virginia Temple, a friend of Isabelle's after she leaves Alec, but I don't think I've mentioned her at all so I'll leave her out of this conversation.
As far as your point goes, I think there are two important things about both these characters: that they're hand-chosen by Alec for a purpose, and that they retain their own agency within the story. I'll address the former first. Alec is the most powerful major character in the narrative, and that's by design. For realism and for the purposes of the themes I choose to focus on - of isolation, abuse, power dynamics, and privilege as you said, although I don't agree that whiteness is a major theme of my storytelling - Alec, a rich white man from old money who's willing to leverage absolutely anything, no matter how cruel, in order to get ahead....of course he's the big cheese. Of course he gets to pick who he surrounds himself with; historically, men like him did just that. If Phoebe and Clemency were not people Alec believed he could capably manipulate, they would not be part of the story.
