Stock standard P-Hawk, the classic light mech bully

It's just not great, but you can't help but love the classics. Thankfully there's non-trash variants for each era, especially the Jihad era 3PL, 6/9/6 with an array of pulse lasers tied to a targeting computer is a nasty midranged skirmisher.

Northwind Highlanders - Phoenix Hawk

This one’s been a long time coming.

I’ve had this guy finished for about a week now, and I’m finally getting around to posting pictures. I’m not especially fond of most Phoenix Hawks as game pieces, they’re a little too prone to overheating and a little too light on armor for my taste, but I do like the look. The cockpit always reminds me of a dragon, and I like the big jump pack and the high-heel feet. Queen shit.

I went with Border Reiver tartan for the leg on this one, which was fun to do even if it’s a made-up pattern from the 90s (but then, clan-specific tartans only came about in the Victorian era so it all evens out regardless). I feel like I’m making good progress on my backlog, and with this ‘mech I’m almost through the stuff from the alpha strike box. It’ll most likely see use in campaign play, since the PHawk is a staple in the roster of the succession-wars era mercenary. Also the Phoenix Hawk 99 is maybe the funniest stat sheet in the entire game.

Man for as cool as that shoulder-slung cannon design is, the PHX-1b is a rough mech design, especially for a Royal variant. An ERPPC and an ER large laser are entirely too much Gun for a medium scout mech with 10 heat sinks to carry, and mean that it you decide to alpha and jump your full 180m for some incomprehensible reason, you can touch the full ton of MG ammo in this thing's belly off from a dead cold start.

The far less proliferated PHX-1c variant fixes a lot of problems by replacing the ER peeper with a snubby and shellacking an extra ton of armor on the thing, rendering the design only mildly heat positive without the help of the medium lasers or jets.
