Do you see my vision?
Woah painting with red has been a million times easier with this new wet palette YIPPEEEE
I'm starting to think the old make shift one I threw together was very bad haha
Another Enby direct fire support mech has hit the field.
So its been a while since Ive painted but Im finally back into the groove of things. Motivation to do anything has been hard since early HRT sapped my energy but I'm finally past it (I think?)
It was interesting to do a colour scheme I had done before on a new mech. Until now I've been doing new designs every time but I might do them in pairs from now on (even if an adder and rifleman would never be in a lance/star together LOL).
Purple continues to be one of my fav colours to paint with and yellow continues to be my least favourite. I got a proper wet palette for christmas and that made it much easier to keep those paints at their best which helped with the yellow for me. This was a nice way to take that for a test drive
I saw this meme going around on twitter and I think it'll be perfect for this account.

I'm reminded that I hate painting with yellow and white but I had to for this. I tried a light brown underneath for yellow but I think the browns opacity was just as bad LOL. If anyone has any brown paint recommendations for this I'd be happy to hear them.
The purple with some light dry brushing turned out very clean though. I'm getting better at and becoming a big fan of dry brushing. I decided not to cake this one in a wash this time so it has a nicer texture and looks cleaner and I'm glad for it.
If I go back and paint laser colours on barrels I think this will be the first one I do it to. I can't wait to cook a pilot in this thing at the store
Motivation has finally returned to me but not enough to keep going with my catapult so I decided to try dry brushing on my battlemaster.
I did vallejo scarlet red with dry brushing with a vallejo scarlet blood. I struggled with the base coat because I STUPIDLY didnt do the under coat brown so I needed a lot of layers but I also had problems with the red paint I got. It was way too thin right out of the bottle to the point where I left it out for a day to dry before using it. You can see where it just fell off the model on the foot when I first tried. I think it mightve been tampered with and returned to the store.
The dry brushing was awesome. I think I didnt wipe enough off the brush but it was okay because the colours were quite close together so it looked pretty nice but I wasnt a fan of how the wash turned out this time. Maybe i used too much? Maybe I should stop using it on everything without thinking about it? I like the texture of the paint before i put the wash on so maybe I should look into other ways of doing shading.
The bubble cockpit was a bit intimidating but came out pretty cool. The battlemaster has a pretty unique canopy shape so it was very interesting. I love how it turned out and I think Im learning a thing or two about how light works for this all haha.
Another mini Im happy with how it turned out and oh my god I'm yapping more and more with each post. I guess its good that Im thinking about it all in more detail. (Also leadbelcher is awesome)
I wanna drink it so bad. How tf do y'all stop yourselves? No one warned me when I got into the hobby that it would require so much self restraint
g'day, mate! ive been curious for a time now what the arm weapons on the timberwolf in your header is? unless my eyes betray me, it dont look like the usual pair of L Lasers and M Lasers. PPCs? RAC/5s? A quintet of machineguns each as a joke?
anyway, enjoy the rest of your evening, mate 🤟
I assumed it was a pair of UAC-10s since thats what the stock deathstrike is packing but its clearly not stock because of the missile pods. UACs often have those double/triple barrels in MWO which is where the model is lifted from
Assault mechs may have a little machinegun array as a treat. NOT TEN
Garfield locust has joined the squad.
Unfortunately I started this guy before getting some great advice on how to paint orange so it was a pain but it still worked. I think I need new or better brushes for doing the triangles because surely it's not my fault for not getting the angles as sharp as I wanted :3.
Looking forward to using him painted because I love using a locust on the battlefield which is funny considering I HATE THEM in the video games.
I'm working my way through the starter box. Only the catapult and battlemaster left and I'll have to move onto the clan invasion box after that. I think I'll touch up the shadowhawk and commando before doing that though
Done with the awesome for now. I caked on the wash a bit too heavy and got a bit of pooling but eh it still looks great. I did some metallic paint for the first time too. It was pretty easy and cool. I went with a silver instead of leadbelcher (because I couldn't find any locally) and I was worried it would he too shiny but it looks great especially after being darkened by the wash.
I miss painting nice canopies though. It's fun and this gal didn't give me a chance to since its so simple.
I think I should try out some more camo patterns too. I think it would better with bigger splotches. It's pretty but a bit messy.
Now she's ready to hit my mate with a volley of ppc fire
I've been looking for a few paints that no local stores seem to have (mostly black) and my partner picked up ALL the colours I was looking for. I'm blessed to have such a supportive partner. There will be NO "hiding this one from the wife" here. HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS ONLY
Paint progress time
I started painting this locust orange (before getting some great advice on using orange unfortunately) and decided to paint it to look like Garfield half way through. While I look for black paint I started another.
I wanted to test out light blue and whites so I painted a snow camo awesome and I'm happy with the palette and shapes. I need to track down a better colour for the metal detailing because I used my grey for the camo. The electric blue turned out to have nice opacity and was great to paint with.
This is great because my next one will be a catapult painted to look like a blahaj :3
Also tossing up between some wash colours and I'm leaning towards the darker one because I think it will look way better on the awesome because of its shapes
Thunderbolt wif da thunderbolts
I took a *crack* at painting a thunderbolty pattern on my thunderbolt because originality is dead. It doesn't come out super well in photos because of the nuln oil wash but I'm very happy with it irl. Not sure how to feel about how glossy it look though. Eh it's fine
Also holy shit vallejo orange fire has no opacity. Took a million layers to not show the black underneath on the edges
I'm getting more and more confident with each model and I think the next one will be a catapult with a CT painted to look like a blahaj.... maybe after some dry brushing practice on a commando or locust
I'm happy with how my first wash turned out. This time I did hexed lichen body with sobre grey legs and bits and nuln oil shade. I was a bit more ambitious with painting grey details this time and the back looks especially nice.
I'm very happy with the wash especially on the grey bits like the legs and missile pods so I'm excited to use it more.
I tried to be a bit different with the cockpit being dark with highlights and it turned out pretty good. Could be better and maybe I'll paint over it one day but I like the colours and the idea I was going for. Maybe I could do a minor touch up one day
BWAH I LOVE PAINTING
Still deciding what to paint the little black guy (bottom right). I'm thinking a nice hexed lichen purple with a dark grey unpainted looking legs. I'll throw in a nice yellow and white stripe. I might use this guy as a test subject for washes since I'm going to try dry brushing on my commando.
As for the other little black guy (upper left) I'm contemplating between chin scritches or perhaps belly rubs
Managed to get some Orange fire and Moon Yellow to have a crack at the cockpit. I'm happy with how it turned out but getting that fine detail was harder than I expected. I might touch up the edges of the canopy but I don't think it's necessary tbh.
Also base coated this commando and tried to do some Yellow stripes and highlighting. It turned out fine but working with yellow on dark base was a pain. I'll keep trying with the highlighting and figuring out colours before trying it with a mech I like more
Lost my painting chair after getting up for 15 minutes. Can't have shit in this house
