heyy you still got the tango-is-a-phoenix headcannon? (or was it that he was a phoenix only during double life specifically?) if so, got any elaboration on that? like,, phoenix specific instincts/abilities?

yes i love phoenix tango!!! i feel like it goes well with blazeborn tango as well with like the fire hair, but i like to imagine that during double life he had a phoenix-style reincarnation when the ranch got burned down and we saw the Rage(TM). also the parallels with canary jimmy are one of my favourite.

i imagine that he can’t really control when the phoenix stuff happens and that his wings only show when he’s feeling very mad/passionate about something, but he loves the feeling of flying. maybe he makes himself steampunk wings because of this :))

Phoenix Tango, i've seen the head cannon quite a bit. Where he's a fire bird but not many people use the resurrection parts of the myth. What do you think about a Phoenix Tango who has to grow up every time he dies.

I love this idea.

When Tango respawns it's often a messy and hot envorment. His body burns up when he dies leaving bone char and ash behind, covering everything that was in his inventory. Then he has to grow up, which includes multiple molting sessions. So feathers often end up covering everything.

I've seen quite a bit of age regression in this fandom, but there's not a whole lot of Deaging (what I like to read) and where a Phoenix Tango who grows up would reside. So if anyone has good fic recs i'm listening.

but before either of them could move, they heard the hissing from behind them. they both turned around and all tommy say before getting flung through was a purple and blue creeper. not normal.

when he woke up, he was lying on mycelium. he froze when he saw the huge mushroom house castle thing.

this wasn’t the smp at all.

quickly jumping up, and definitely not stumbling a little, he looked around trying to figure out where he was and where tubbo was.

Tubbo wasn’t with him. Tommy looked around the place for his blind friend, he wasn’t anywhere on the island.

So, Tommy swam to the bigger island, and walked around calli for Tubbo.

he ended up not finding his friend, but two people. a blond guy who seemed to be half goat and another who seemed to be half phoenix.

what happens when a non human dies? Do hybrids wake up from a respawn in more animalistic head spaces? Would a werewolf like ren wake up as a human after dying on the full moon and be forced to shift again. Would a phoenix tango respawn as a child?

One could say that non-human hermits respawn in their most natural state! What that is, depends on the hermit. If Zedaph is a sheep who got turned into a human, then he might respawn with more animalistic mindset. But Doc, if considered a human who got turned into a creeper hybrid, could respawn more human-like, for example (or not! begging us to question how connected he is to his ‘newer’ creeper side, which is always really interesting to think about!). 

There is a lot of variability! Does wolf-Ren remember being a human? Is he forced out and back into a wolf-like state of mind? Or is he simply a human in wolf form under the full moon?  Anything could happen, depending on your headcanons!

Which means there's a lot to be explored - plush doll Grian might respawn in his true body, Phoenix Tango might indeed come back as a child like he does in Meteor Effect, and were-hermits who are essentially animals who have taken on a human form would probably go back to their animal form after a respawn c:

would a Phoenix tango respawn like a normal Phoenix?

Yes. He's careful to make sure his bed/spawnpoint is fire-proof.

He tries to avoid the whole dying thing in general, honestly. Cleaning up ashes from where he died and then respawned is a never ending chore. Nevermind the numerous favours he owes to hermits after accidentally scorching their base.
