Pull the plug man
What if Kinger is a bugged NPC that Caine can't delete? What if he was real but he abstracted long ago and Caine made a copy to help the remaining players who miss him. Except, he doesn't work right, he doesn't have all of Kinger's memories, just some of his lines of dialogue. Caine thought he could just delete him if he went rogue but he discovered that he couldn't. When he realised he couldn't remove him, he swore off of letting npcs come out of adventures and into the circus overworld. It explains why Abel tries to turn the gang against him and leave him behind, none of the current players know he's not real because his npc model was made before any of the current players arrived.
If he's an NPC it explains why he never goes to his room, npcs wouldn't typically have that type of access unless invited by a player. It explains his sporadic lucidity, his dialogue trees are broken outside of adventures. We see that he's a lot more focused and lucid in adventures generally, as well as in the dark. He's not completely normal on adventures with light but he's more focused and linear in his actions.
Anyway I hate this theory and want more than anything for it not to be close because Kinger is my favourite and I will be heartbroken if he's been pulling a Bruce Willis 'he was dead the whole time' twist.

if you wiped every ICE agent off the face of the earth, a hundred million people would become safer overnight. if you wiped every furry off the face of the earth, the entire internet would collapse for good in a matter of hours. i know where my allegiances lie.
what's hilarious about this post is that the consensus seems to be that i underestimated both the number of people who would become safer overnight and the amount of time it would take for the internet to collapse and i actually agree. it's the type of statement you'd expect a lot of people to see and think "what a wild exaggeration," but nope. i'm underselling it for once, actually.
[Image ID: Tweet from pea poopingirl @/PoopingIRL on 8/14/23 - i think the idea of a shady dwarven salesman selling "cheap" stuff to humans and laughing to himself like "heh it will only last one generation, those stupid idiots, how will they even pass it down to their kids" forgetting that one dwarf generation is like 4 human ones is funny. There's a black bar at the bottom with an iFunny watermark in the corner. End ID.]
Elf ea-nasir selling mithril armor that will last no more than 1,000 years getting death threats from his fellow elves but doing numbers w/humans
Actually, I really like this idea as why elven and dwarven crafts are so good. Something thatās merely acceptable is meant to last most of one of their lifetimes. So even a mediocre dwarven craftsman will make something a human can pass down.
And you can always sell what the apprentice makes while still learning to a human, letting them know it will merely last for the rest of their life.
The elven version of IKEA could be a human family heirloom.
'Good enough for humans' becomes an expression for 'you're getting there' for an apprentice.
Okay. Hot take. I donāt think Jax ran over a child. I donāt think thatās what that was about at all. Jax is characterized by escapism and deflection, refusing to admit his problems and avoiding other peopleās attempts to help him. His character has never been about guilt. To add this superfluous and frankly thematically unrelated element would undermine him as a character. I personally think he ran away from home/got kicked out or something along those lines. Running away makes sense to his character and additionally his reactions to leaving the circus have always been centered around evidently not having people waiting for him on the other side. Everything in animation is intentional and with how TADC is written, itās very clear that everything said is intentional. He has nothing in the outside world.
I got these figures for Christmas!! They were 6 euros each! (I'm getting more for my birthday which is only now being celebrated bc it's 2 days before my exams) I hope I get Jax next time!!
