the lost gate!!! i want to vent about it so this is going to be much more than u asked for i'm sorry
it's a mythology related fantasy type thing which i thought sounded really cool and it IS and he actually did a really good job of creating the world and the background of the world and making it flow pretty seamlessly with our reality and stuff (like he does with with the ender histories) but it's kinda disappointing not just because of his usual sexism/homophobia/racism but also because i always thought characterization was one of his strong points but the characters in this are really cookie cutter and they're multidimensional and stuff but in a cookie cutter and often ??gross?? way.
like u have his typical precocious and isolated and mischievous kid protag but for some reason this child has very strong opinions about gender roles and simultaneously sex shames and objectifies women so that's fun and very typical of OSC but somehow i'm still mad
