"Darlin', that's a lie and you know it." Logan frowned at the redhead, a hand hovering close to her elbow as she wavered slightly on her feet. "You don't gotta push yourself like this... ain't like you got anything to prove."
Except, he had a sneaking suspicion that at least to herself, she did. Ever since her marriage had gone on the rocks, then ended, it seemed Jean was doing everything in her power to individualize. To be her own woman, stand up tall and shake off the expectations of anyone around her. She would not play the bitter divorcee, would hold her head high for her pride and her principles. Make her own choices.
Whether or not that choice was him was something he only considered in the quiet isolation of his mind.
So he focused on being what she needed in that moment: a friend. After all, they'd been comrades-in-arms for years now, seen each other through ups and downs. Had a rather intimate relationship due to her assistance in dredging through the quagmire of his mind trying to piece together something of his past. A shoulder to lean on, with a ready joke or a kind word, was what she needed right now. Not some guy sniffing at her heels as soon as she was 'available'.
So, offering a smile, Logan tipped his head. "Just say the word and the program ends. You know this is all just practice anyway."
