Hnk Roleplay Event ~ Phosphorescence Season 3

Phosphorescence, a Houseki no Kuni/Land of the Lustrous Alternate Universe Discord Roleplay, will continue on June 15th!

In this text-based long-term roleplay, create a Gem and experience the tragic tale of the Brilliants and the Vitreous, two split factions of Gems looking for hope.

Plot Synopsis

When the sixth meteor struck the Earth, a single city was left. Once humanity split into the three descendants, the Bone returned to their ancestors’ home. Adamant, Earth’s prayer machine, took in and nurtured the Gems in the ruined city’s silver spires. The Gems in return protected him from the Lunarians that so desperately sought Adamant’s prayer.

After 12,000 years of trial and error, the Lunarians had reached their breaking point and destroyed the machine. The Gems managed to salvage his Eye, which gave the Spirit a newfound hope. The Lunarian Prince/Princess came down to the Earth and told the Gems that if they found the Six Treasures and presented the Spirit with a Human, they would no longer abduct their kind. The Gems, who had no knowledge of Humanity and the Treasures, nor no longer had the guidance of their Master, were left confused and lost. The Gems argued, which escalated into brutal fights. The Bone who seeked to assist the Lunarians and find the Human, stayed within the city, while those who desired a peaceful life with reflection, retreated to the forests outside.

The Inner City gems, known as the Vitreous, swore to protect their Outer City siblings, who became known as the Brilliants. The Brilliants in turn swore to provide supplies and aid to the Vitreous. The Gems split, and for 5,000 years, the two factions lived in peace. The Lunarians, however, began to grow impatient, and on one summer day, decided to give the Gems a push…

Season 3 Synopsis

Three years have passed since the events of Season 2. The Master of the Vitreous was taken by the Lunarians and their young apprentice took up the role. As the Vitreous adjust to new leadership and the Brilliants continue their blissful search for the Treasures, an old discovery awakens and the Champions descend upon the Earth once more...

We are looking for OCs for both the Brilliants and the Vitreous! Information about these factions and other lore information is available on this blog, or in the Discord server linked below.

The leadership roles and other important roles have already been taken, but several slots for a variety of jobs are still available!

There will be a plot recap posted in the coming weeks. You DO NOT have to have participated in season 1 and/or 2 to participate in this one!

Phosphorescence is an annual roleplay event that takes place between June 15th and August 30th, and will go on hiatus during the rest of the year. Roleplaying during off-season is encouraged!

OC submissions close on June 15th. Details and instructions are available on the discord server. You may join the server and hang out past that date if you do not have an OC/want to spectate. It will always be open and you are always welcome :)

This roleplay will incorporate manga spoilers!

Bort ~ Character Introductions

Being at the top of the hardness scale, Bort takes immense pride in his strength. Because of this strength and an inherent skill in combat, Bort decided he’d be the perfect guy to try and train some of the younger gems. However, being relatively young himself and lacking any general knowledge on how to properly train someone, he’s wound up serving as more a hype man than anything else. Really, he’s just overall a nice guy who can be a bit intense/overconfident. Despite his high hardness and skill in terms of combat, Bort has yet to earn a cape (likely due to his naivety and general immaturity…). It’s clear just by talking to him that it is something he desperately wants.

Chameleon Diamond ~ Character Introductions

Cham carries themself with a carefree attitude that would almost make you think they weren't in charge of an entire faction. They regard most situations with a sense of asumement. Whether this is due to their lengthly age and tenure as master, or simply due to personality is difficult to say.

However, this does not mean that they do not take things seriously. They seem to always be aware of what is happening before anyone else, and will take swift action on any oncoming attacks that get out of hand.

It seems like barely anything would shake them, however, when exposed to a situation that is unfamiliar or that does not go as planned, they have a tendency to become emotional and reckless. But after living for so long, there are exceedingly few situations that subvert their expectations.

They are very charismatic and excellent at reading others, as well as skilled in strategy.

They regard the Brilliant as simply misguided and naive, but prefers to maintain amiable relations with them. However, they will not stop any of his subordinates from vocally disagreeing, and agrees that it might be time for a change to prevent the unnecessary harm of the Vitreous.

Tree Agate ~ Character Introductions

Tree Agate is an indecisive and lazy gem that always has her head in the clouds. She’s completely aimless and refuses to work against the wishes of her peers. She has difficulty expressing her desires and prefers to avoid certain situations all together. Her lack of a sense of belonging isolates her from the other Vitreous. Tree’s desire for a place, a purpose in life she genuinely loves, drives her to blind trust, naivety, and exploration.

Seaglass ~ Character Introductions

Seaglass is an curious, & calm lustrous who tends to be sly & sneaky due to an core memory it has, while being shy and introverted and prefers to communicate with writing instead over verbally, as it believes that actions over words can sometimes be an greater art itself, due to that Seaglass slightly has an similar belief to the faction Viterous with combat due to another memory that been stuck with it for an long time, but still prefers peace and nonviolence action.

Rhodochrosite ~ Character Introductions

Rhod is a very energetic gem, but often putting his energy onto being annoying. He's loud and breaks rules when he find it convenient for him. He's still young and tends to do a lot of dumb things hence why he is still jobless.

Ammolite ~ Character Introductions

Ammolite was originally quite adventurous, until she was caught in a lunarian attack a few years ago which resulted in her left eye and part of her face being taken away.

Ammolite is notably difficult to put back together when she shatters and her body seems to reject any replacement parts given to her. As such, the attack has resulted in a permanent loss to this part of her face. This altercation, combined with her already weak constitution, has lead to her being quite paranoid when venturing outside. She will still leave the comfort of the library, but she will constantly glance over her shoulder, and has become cautious to an excessive degree.

She has also become very preoccupied with the fragility of gem bodies, and sometimes wishes she was not born as a gem at all. Seeing other gems shattered/in a state of disrepair causes her a considerable amount of distress.

She is ashamed of the injured side of her face so she often hides it with her hair.

She is very clever, with an innate sense of curiosity, and is kind to others, but is often dragged down by anxiety.

Garden Quartz ~ Character Introductions

Garden is a grumpy & stern gem and slightly stubborn, he doesn’t like to be pestered by others specially pestering younglings but would try to tolerate it and has a few soft spots for some younger gems with a rare sighting would be Garden giving small pats out of old habits, he can be easily annoyed & has a slight angry neutral face 70% of the time, but once awhile he would loosen and cackle with some jokes and maybe look back at his old youthful self, when Garden gets the chance he would slightly tease others usually around his age, about little moments or things he would remember, once a while he would go on small rambles to himself & maybe listen in to others’ rumbles or stories.
