Tree's Storyline (Season 1)
(Writing is a mix of messages from Discord and summaries of events that happened in between messages)
Leaves drifted on the surface of the water. Jellyfish floated beneath, peeking between the leaf barrier. A net dove into the water, scattering the jellyfish away. The net scooped up the leaves from the water and its operator shook them out off to the side. Tree Agate set down the heavy net and peered into the water. Thanks to the tree growing out of the building above, leaves easily fell into the pond. It wasnāt hurting the jellyfish in any way, but if anything happened to them, no one would be able to see them if the leaves infested the surface. Tree watched the jellyfish float about endlessly and felt a sense of pride knowing they had more sunlight to themselves. She smiled. āThere you go jellies. Sunlight all for you,ā
Tree Agate laid down on the stairs and crossed her arms. She rested her chin on her forearms and sighed as she watched the jellyfish. āIt must be great to be a jellyfish. No one tells you what to do, or expects anything from you, but everyone loves you anyway. If only I could join you for just a little bitā¦ā
Covellite had been lingering around outside to try and find a somewhat peaceful spot to write in. While he did *like* the library, he couldn't help but feel a bit cramped whenever he spent too much time in there. Eventually, he ended up by the jellyfish nursery, a pretty quaint place in and of itself. Although, he took a moment to pause in his steps when he noticed Tree Agate splayed out next to all the giddy little jellyfish, swirling and floating without a care in the world. He had his writing equipment in hand, opening his mouth slightly, but hesitating to disturb the other gem as he shuffled backwards. Well, at least he was trying to be quiet, but he ended up knocking over the net with a clatter, making him flinch. "... Sorry," he muttered stoically, feeling apologetic for encroaching on Tree's space. "I didn't want to intrude on your jellyfish monologue."
Tree gasped and turned around frantically, almost slipping in the process. She pouted, her go to expression whenever she was scared or upset. āItās fine. What are you doing here?ā
The quiet scholar of the Vitreous, Covellite, came here to the jellyfish nursery to write outside. He had been working on the Encyclopedia for quite some time now. He hadnāt made any progress on finding the āHumanā that the Vitreous have been looking for for thousands for years now. He needed to venture out, but the risks were weighing on him. This gave Tree Agate an idea.
Tree Agate shook the leaves and dead stuff out of the wet net as she listened to Covellite. His desire to venture out caught Treeās attention. She looked out at the streets and the shadows stretching between them. āWhat if I went out and found something for you? While I look for bugs,ā
For almost a moment, Covellite seemed to perk up, getting a sort of glint in his eyes. "Really? Only if you don't mind..."
Just as more Gems had come around and began to disturb the peace, Tree escaped to the streets.
Tree Agate walked through the ruined streets of the Inner City by herself, waving her net around aimlessly. She watched her footing as she stepped over tree roots and uplifted pieces of concrete. Tree looked around for bugs and for anything cool to bring back to Covellite. Tree knew she wasnāt doing anything useful. Even though her body was perfect for combat and capable of handling many tasks, she couldnāt find fulfillment or success in anything. Tree found the work the Vitreous Gems perform to be boring and too mundane for her to spend an eternity doing. She never liked the idea of combat either. Everyday could be her last and she was too scared of falling off a Lunarian vessel and shattering into a million pieces. Killing those Lunarians didnāt seem very fun either. Tree didnāt know anything about the enemy and as such a part of her felt it was wrong to destroy them herself. Now she was stuck as a freeloader, the Gem that was just there. She hated it. Tree was lost in her thoughts once a distinct cry brought her back to reality. A heartback insect with cloud patterned wings buzzed past her. She watched it fly around and land on the ground.
Tree Agate carefully and slowly approached the bug as it investigated the ground for food. She slammed the net down on the ground and missed the bug. It buzzed away and towards the end of the street. Tree pouted in frustration and ran after it. āCome back!ā
Tree Agate followed the heartback bug to the plaza. She swung her net furiously, but the bug kept dodging her attacks and flying away. āStop! I want you!ā She exclaimed and accidentally swung the net at Imperial Topaz, catching their head instead of the bug.
Topaz had an amused look on her face when the net landed over their head, raising an eyebrow at the younger gem. Now Topaz never harboured any bad thoughts or even complained about the jobless, since she believed that everyone would have a place in their faction.
"Ah, Tree Agate? What is it this time?"
Tree Agate gasped and quickly pulled the net off the Strategistās head. āN-nothing! I was just going for a walk,ā Tree Agate quickly answered and hid the net behind her as if Topaz lacked object permanence and would just forget it was there.
Imperial Topaz gently berates Tree Agate about finally working, who is stubborn against doing so. As they talk, a Sunspot is seen in the sky.
She looked up at Topaz. āWell, what if Iā¦ā Her voice trailed off as she saw something in the sky.
Topaz caught Tree's gaze immediately, turning around. "....shit." was all she said.
"Tree. You need to get out of here immediately. Hide somewhere. I'll handle this." Topaz took out her grappling hook, staring at the horizon.
The sunspot ripped through the sky as it descended upon the wide plaza. The blackness expanded as the Lunarian vessel took form. The Lunarian warriors smiled at the two Gems as they surrounded the taller center Lunarian carrying the bowl it hoped to fill.
Tree Agate stared at the sunspot as it descended and frantically looked around. āHide? Where?ā She exclaimed, as she only saw herself in a wide open space. She never went into the skyscrapers either, as the several open holes didnāt seem too safe to her.
Oh well, there probably wasn't any time for Tree Agate to hide now. Topaz groaned. "A building would have worked," she muttered, aiming at the ship, preparing for takeoff. "Warn the others! Can you run?"
āYes I can-ā An arrow flew towards Tree. She threw her net in front of her to defend herself. The arrows snapped the net in two as she turned around and ran back towards the streets. She halted as arrows dug into the ground in front of her. Tree Agate flinched and against the new orders of her superior, ran towards a building and scrambled in.
Violet Diamond, Imperial Topaz, Bort, Rhodochrosite, and Covellite arrive at the scene and battle the Lunarians. Iris Agate finds Treeās hiding spot in an abandoned interior.Ā
Iris had heard the commotion and gone to watch the fight, keeping an eye out for any broken gems. But, having seen the movement, Iris stalked out from their patch of shade and towards Tree Agate. "Are you injured?"
Tree Agate flinched and turned around to see a fellow Agate here. āNo, Iām fine. Iām hiding,ā she said and stood up. She took a step towards Iris and nearly tripped over something in a dirt filled square where a floor panel probably was. Tree held onto the short wall and looked down at what she almost tripped over. Her eyes lit up. Something cool! Tree reached down and pulled it out of the dirt. She brushed it off and found⦠a silver, thin, rectangle. She frowned. It wasnāt cool.
Concern flashed over their face when she tripped - but they didn't move to catch her. Iris, despite being a fellow agate, was more brittle than Tree Agate, and thus would sooner break than successfully help her. "I'm glad you aren't hurt. You should head back to the Atrium, where it is safe.... along with your prize. Please notify Chameleon Diamond of the attack as well."
Tree Agate held the rectangle close to her chest and nodded. āOkay!ā She followed Iris out of the building and back out into the plaza.
Chameleon Diamond now arrives at the scene. Covellite is shot just as Tree and Iris come out of the hiding spot.
Covellite's eyes widened at the Yellow Diamond-tipped arrows, a shiver running down his metaphorical spine. He didn't like this. "I'm serious, Rhod." Was all he said, before noticing that they were already being shot at, immediately, pushing Rhod behind him. It didn't matter how fragile he was, he had a responsibility as the older gem. Seeing that Chameleon Diamond had it handled though, he moved away from Rhod once more. "Chameleon, you...!" The stray arrows that weren't being fended off went everywhere, and he couldn't even blink before one of them already hit him in the torso. It was always like this.
Tree Agate stepped outside of her hiding place to see some familiar faces. She saw Chameleon and notably Covellite and hurried towards them, completely forgetting the situation she was in. āCovellite! Chameleon! I found someth-ā A Yellow Diamond arrow shot through her arms, snapping them off and tossing the rectangle up in the air.
The group retreats to the Atrium. Topaz and Iris fix the broken gems. Vi goes back out to retrieve Treeās lost items, the net and the rectangle. While Bort helps fix Cove, Tree hands him the rectangle.
Tree Agate interpreted this as her cue and stood up. She walked over to Cove and handed him the rectangle. āHere. I found this,ā
Bortās sleepy smile grew as he heard Covelliteās words. He treasured his friendship with Covellite and it felt beyond amazing to hear that those feelings were reciprocated. āYeah, I can do that!ā He responded, still beaming. For someone so exhausted, Bort was surprisingly chipper. As he began to walk off to find the glue, he noticed Tree approaching Covellite and presenting him with some sort of rectangle. Grabbing the glue and a brush to apply it with, he rejoined the two, curiously peeking over Treeās shoulder, āWhatās that?ā He asked, pointing to the object.
Covellite seemed intrigued, gently taking the little silver rectangle as he tilted his head. "Hm? This looks interesting..." The shape was quite clean, something he usually didn't see amongst anyone but the gems themselves. "I'm not quite sure yet. Where did you find this, Tree?" His burning curiosity was immediately set aflame, before he grounded himself somewhat, trying to find out which shards of him align with the gaps in his body. Once he figured out where they should go, he motioned that Bort could come closer for the application. "Right, here, and there, just a thin coat of glue is fine, I'll push the pieces into place." Lifting his top somewhat for more space to work with, he pointed to the holes in his abdomen and side, although his eyes were still fixated on that rectangle.
āWhen I hid from the Lunarians, I went into a cave and found it in the ground. I told you I would find something for you to study so I did,ā Tree Agate explained as she twiddled her thumbs.
Feeling a surge of appreciation that Tree actually kept her word, Covellite nodded as he listened, the corners of his mouth twitching upwards. "A cave? Just on the ground? That's odd... It doesn't have a natural shape at all, and for something like that to just be lying around..." His mind rattled, that would already cross out a lot of options. As Bort applied the glue, he pushed his missing shards back into his body, eventually getting to the last one. "Is it just a metal? But that wouldn't explain any of that... You really found something interesting. I appreciate it." Once everything was back in place, he carefully wrapped up everything to make sure the glue had time to set. His fingers found the rectangle once more, holding it up to his eye to see if there was any luster or reflection. It was the usual check, trying to see if there was any specific sound, odor, texture, anything that indicated what this thing was. Nobody would just make something this polished and discard it in some cave. Since Bort seemed curious, he waved it in front of his friend's face. "You can take a look too."
Tree Agate smiled seeing as she mightāve helped in a big way. She fiddled with her fingers a bit more and looked away, semi-embarrassed, semi-happy.
The silver rectangle was a perfectly smooth tablet, barely as thin as a third of a book. There were a few dents and scratches but other than that, it was in good condition all things considered. It didnāt seem to do anything. It was just a rectangle.
The conversation turns to the Brilliants as Tree wonders if the rectangle belongs to them. She grows cautiously curious about the faction.Ā
She sat on the edge of the padded table. āWhat are the Brilliants like?ā
Covellite rubbed the back of his neck, knowing he had basically put himself in that situation by reacting so strongly. "Well..." When he thought back to it, he just knew it was cold, dark, quiet. "I bet they're all nice... They're just gems, there shouldn't be too much of a difference." He knew that it wasn't any of the fault of the other Brilliants, so he didn't want to generalize them. "... Just... didn't have the best experience with the only one I met. So I'm not sure if I can give the best overview." While he tried to hide it, his eyes were visible uncomfortable. Anything else to know about them was common knowledge, his own input would just make them look a lot worse than most of them probably are.
Tree Agate seemed disappointed in such an empty answer. āOh,ā she looked away, not sure what to say. If the Brilliants were Gems just like them, then why were they separated? Tree wanted to ask more questions but seeing as Covellite couldnāt give an answer to a basic one, she decided he wouldnāt know.
Bort looked at Covellite as he spoke. He watched as his friend grew uncomfortable and uneasy when recalling this event with a Brilliant gem. He wasnāt sure what had happened, heck he didnāt even know Covellite had spoken with a Brilliant before. Despite being curious, the gem knew not to pry. He looked back at Tree, āYāknow if youāre really curious that trade-meeting-thing is coming up soon,ā He yawned, āMaybe Chameleon Diamond will let you tag along if you ask.ā He, of course had never been to one of the meetings between the two factions. It made sense. He wasnāt part of the upper ranks. He figured it was likely Tree Agate wouldnāt be allowed to go, but asking couldnāt hurt.
"Yes, he's right. There's a chance they could agree." Covellite was grateful that Bort didn't push it. While he knew he'd eventually tell him about that incident, he'd rather do it in private, and somewhere where he didn't have to fear about scorching everything in his panic. If there was anyone he would allow himself to lose his composure with for once, it was definitely his friend. "You'll even get to meet the seniors, so you can see the Brilliants up close and personal." He mumbled, trying to act unbothered, but just bringing up the seniors made his hands fizzle under his gloves. It didn't bother him, it shouldn't.
Tree Agate frowned. She didnāt like the idea at all, not because she didnāt want to visit the Brilliants, but because she knew full well that Chameleon Diamond would say no. Her presence wouldnāt add anything to the Trade Meeting. Besides, she was an unremarkable and lazy Gem with no accomplishments or even a job at all. There would be no point in bringing her along, so she believed there was no point in asking. She crossed her arms and pouted. āTheyāre not gonna let me so I donāt wanna,ā
A few days after the incident, Tree Agate ponders an ideaā¦
Tree Agate struggled to fix the net in her room. She had applied some glue to put the pieces back together and was trying to wrap a bandage around it. The bandage kept getting stuck to the glue and making it difficult to re-wrap it after messing it up. Tree tied a little knot to finish her work and lifted up the net. She waved it around. It was sticking together but it felt quite flimsy. It probably wouldnāt last long. Knowing her luck, it would probably snap in half in the middle of the night and sheād have to fix it again. Tree set it on the floor and leaned against her window sill. She looked out at the ruined skyscrapers surrounding the Atrium and at the setting sun hidden between them. Tree Agate thought of the past few days. She thought of the Lunarian fight, her arms getting snapped off, and the light words of her superiors. Imperial Topaz told her sheād find her place eventually. But when? And how? Were the Vitreous really fine with her being a jobless bum for hundreds of years? Were they simply putting up with her? What did they think of her? Tree Agate lowered her head and brought her knees to her chest. If she didnāt feel like she belonged in the Vitreousā¦then maybeā¦maybe just a peek wouldnāt hurt.
Tree Agate carefully approached one of the many ponds and crouched down beside it. She looked at herself in the dark waterās reflection. She watched her face waver between the green leaves drifting on the surface. Tree held her face and took a big deep breath. She reassured herself silently as she prepared for her next actions. āMaybe itās nice over there. Maybe itās really pretty and I will want to stay. Orā¦maybe itās boring,ā she frowned. āAll this for nothing,ā
āI donāt even thinkā¦anyone will notice if Iām gone,ā Tree Agate spoke to herself as a breeze rippled her wavering reflection away. She looked to the right and peered at the broken buildings ahead, shadowing the path forward to the other side. Just a peek. No, I wonāt be gone for long. I just want to see what itās like. Iāll come back. Promise. Tree Agate thought as she stood up. I just want another option. She thought as she walked towards the shadows and away from the sunshine of the Inner City.
Tree Agate emerged from the shadows and carefully stepped into the long shade of the Dividing Tunnels. The walls stretched farther than she could see on both sides. It felt like it divided two worlds rather than two sides of a city. Tree approached the large tunnel before her. She touched the aged, mossy, concrete wall and peered into the opening. The wind whistled through. It was dark. Very dark. Tree trembled and took a step back. Was this really a good idea? She frowned. Just a peek. She stepped into the tunnel and walked through, running her hand across the wall to guide herself through the uncertain darkness.
Tree Agate stepped out of the long dark tunnel and stepped into the grass of the forest. She shielded her eyes from the blinding rush of light and slowly adjusted them to the new sight. Treeās eyes widened in wonder. Trees, more trees than in the Crater Ponds, more than sheās ever seen before. The Inner City had vegetation all around, but to see it all together like this⦠it was magical. Tree Agate stepped away from the tunnel and into the forest. A strange calmness overtook her as she walked through her new world. She was so used to the constant supply of sunshine in the Inner City. Here, the light filtered through the canopy above her. It provided her less energy than she was often bombarded with and it felt nice. Tree watched her footing as she traversed the protruding tree roots and the bushes brushing against her legs. She looked all around her, taking in the sounds of the insects, the birds, and the wind rustling the leaves.
Star Sapphire had returned to the forest not too long ago to retrieve his weapon after it had been abandoned in the grass, the previous cracks in his limbs already patched up without a trace and his robe changed to one not sliced open. While he had already been in the process of heading back to the camp, he noticed a shimmer. With a breeze, the leaves rustled, followed by the crunching of roots, clearly indicating another presence. He took a few light steps, and was swiftly met with the sight of a stray Vitreous. There was still a sort of peace in his mind from the earlier interaction, despite his mixed feelings, so he stood still by a bright clearing, the light filtering through the trees like a soothing dance. It was definitely a young gem too, but she didn't appear like she was searching for a way back, or at least not like she felt out of place, and that made him curious. "... You're not from here, are you, child?" Was all he asked with a gentle hum, his smile slightly intrigued, despite knowing the answer without a doubt. He was wise enough to know the difference between an intruder and a visitor, his predecessor had taught him so. After all, it was like yesterday when he had seen Star Garnet's ethereal figure, hand outstretched and inviting.
Tree Agate wandered the forest for a while, spinning her head around and gazing awestruck at the sights. She took a step near a clearing and stiffened. Tree Agate stared at Star Sapphire as the memory of Covelliteās words froze her in place. She held onto the bark of a tree, unsure of what to say or what to do. If she was shattered out here, who knows what would happen? She could already hear Imperial Topaz and Chameleon Diamond scolding her. āN..n-no,ā Tree mustered the courage to respond.
The nervous reply made him chuckle, he knew that that fear was not misplaced. Many bad things had occured in this forest before, after all. "Do not fret, if you're not here to stir any conflict, then neither am I here to resolve it." Children were always so easy to startle, it was definitely amusing, but he also couldn't help but wear his sympathy on his sleeve. "Let's see... Do you wish to be here, child?" It was a simple question, but the answer would decide whether he had to escort this gem home or not. In the meanwhile, Star Sapphire took a few steps back to ensure the comfort of the young Vitreous, as he was well aware that he was an imposing figure.
Tree Agate frowned and partially hid behind the tree she clung to. āā¦just for a little bit,ā she mumbled. She still wasnāt sure if this Brilliant Gem was going to break her or not, but he certainly was interesting. He wore weird clothes and didnāt wear any powder. Did all the Brilliants look like this? Why did they dress this way? Didnāt they feel naked without powder? Tree slowly inched away from the tree as she grew curious about the figure before her.
Star Sapphire, the mysterious Senior of the Brilliants with a voice as sweet as honey, calms Tree Agate and slowly earns her trust. Tree wants to see what the Outer City is like. Star Sapphire brings her to the flower field on the Villageās edge.
Tree Agate followed Star Sapphire to the flower field. She stepped out from behind him and gasped. Before her eyes was a world of color. Sunshine fell on the painting come to life as the various flowers swayed in the gentle summer breeze. Treeās agape mouth curled into a smile. It was beautiful. She ran into the field and turned around, trying to admire every flower surrounding her, but unable to take them all in. Tree sat down and looked around her. āThereās so many!ā
The sight was definitely one for the ages, making Starsaph let out a heartfelt laugh. He almost forgot how nice it was to see little ones enjoying the world, exploring with a curiosity he had long lost. "Indeed, I spoke nothing but the truth after all. Many of these make splendid dye, but of course, they're captivating in their own right. The tranquility of this field is also to be noted, I do enjoy meditating here every once in a while. When my schedule allows it, that is." Appreciating the simple and the beautiful was difficult to do with so much responsibility, but he never forgot about it.
Tree Agate admired a little white flower and picked it. She smiled as she held it up close. It was a flower that she hadnāt seen before. āYouāre so lucky you get to live in a place like this,ā she spoke softly.
"I do consider myself blessed, yes." Star Sapphire nodded, letting his fingers graze over one of the flower petals. "There is always a choice, child of agate, do understand. Not all Brilliants have lived here since birth, some have found their way here. This holy land has made me into who I am, and for that I am grateful." While he wasn't one to insinuate anything, he wasn't blind to longing. "Luck is attainable. Would you seek to be lucky too if you could?"
Tree Agateās smile faded and she looked at Star Sapphire. A breeze blew through the field. She realized what he meant. She already promised herself she was only visiting for a little bit. She barely had seen the Outer City and there was so much more she already wanted to explore. However, Tree knew she couldnāt leave the Vitreous, even though she felt like she didnāt belong there. She would miss the jellyfish, Bort, Covellite, Vi, Imperial Topaz, Iris, even Chameleon Diamond. They were all Gems she knew and trusted, despite their differences. Could she really abandon them? Tree Agate looked away. āIā¦canāt leave the Vitreous. Iām not lucky at all,ā she responded and twirled the flower in her hand.
Star Sapphire sighed, but he understood. It hadn't been easy for him either, and he knew it was a choice one could regret. "I understand. You must have a lot of people who care for you. It's something to be cherished." He muttered, knowing that the life he used to have wasn't one he looked at with distaste. "It's all a matter of what things you're willing to sacrifice for your own happiness. Some will hurt to let go of in favor of others." His hands dusted off his robe, before his signature smile returned. "But it's not my place to tell you what to do. Just know, you'll always be welcome with the Brilliants, even as a Vitreous. You're definitely not alone, child of agate."
Tree Agate looked up at Star Sapphire again, taking in every word to metaphorical heart. She wished she didnāt have to sacrifice anything to be happy. She wished the Inner City had trees and flower fields and nicer sunshine. Tree didnāt understand why things had to be this way but they were and there was nothing she could do about it. The Vitreous and the Brilliants were separate for a reason. Tree Agate was taken in by the other side and in that side she would stay. That was what was best for everyone. āI will think about itā¦ā Tree Agate let go of her flower and let the wind take it away. Not lucky at all.
Star Sapphire really didn't want to give this young gem an identity crisis, but he was obviously biased towards wanting Tree Agate to stay with the Brilliants. "Take your time. It's not something to decide over a night or two. Weigh the options, understand the risks, and embrace the outcome. You will make the right choice." He spoke softer, knowing that the gem was in a difficult position. "Just know that that choice should be what's best for you."
Tree Agate had been raised to think of the whole over the individual. Everyone had to pitch in to fight the Lunarians and if she wasnāt contributing, she was empty space. It was frustrating that the leaders were going easy on her. Maybe if she tried againā¦Tree stood up and faced Star Sapph. āIf I stayed with the Vitreous, could I come back here?ā She asked as the few clouds in the sky began to part behind her.
"Of course," Star Sapphire nodded. "But do know that not all Brilliants are familiar with the Vitreous. While I'd like to say all guests are welcome, it's to be considered that many of my people have never encountered anyone from the opposing faction before, and there's no telling how they'll react. I'm certain you understand that a Brilliant on Vitreous territory would cause quite the stirring too, yes?" He wanted to assure her that she could always come back, but he also wouldn't conceal the truth. "If I find your visits cause conflict, you would have to go back to the side you chose. As cruel as it is, you cannot have both." For the sake of order and his subjects, he had to think about balance, after all. "But don't be mistaken. If you're in need of my assistance, I would never turn you away. I just cannot take you in whenever you deem the Vitreous to not meet your needs, at least not forever without consequences."
Tree Agate stared at Star Sapphire in dismay. Each new word he spoke crushed more and more of her hopes. He was right. She couldnāt have both. It was either one or the other. Tree Agate lowered her head. She stared at the flowers whose colors seemed dimmer in her disappointment. āOhā¦.okayā¦.ā Tree Agate felt the breeze grow stronger. She bent down and picked another white flower. If she was going to leave, she at least wanted to bring back a souvenir. Tree Agate looked up and gave the older Gem a sad smile. āThank you for showing me the flowers. I should go back now,ā
Just as Tree Agate was about to leave, a Sunspot rips through the sky. A powerful Lunarian, unlike anything the Gems have seen before, drops down before Star Sapphire.
In the sky, a sunspot appeared, but it looked more like a double, then a triple, and then something never seen before. Four sunspots merged into one, to create a 12-pointed star. The Sunspot descended and its true form revealed itself. Off to the left and the right, Lunarians sat on smaller vessels connected to the large one. These Lunarians played instruments, waved banners, and threw petals. They celebrated the army in the middle vessel. Instead of a center Lunarian carrying a bowl, something covered in a beautifully embroidered cloth sat on a tall pedestal. The vessel got closer and hovered above the other side of the flower field. Two Lunarians pulled away the cloth, revealing a larger, new Lunarian underneath. The New Lunarian stood up and leapt into the air. It landed in the flower field, scattering petals in various directions. It was a tall Lunarian, about 7 to 8 feet tall. It had a long beard, thin robes, and a mask hiding its face.Ā In its hands, it held a long staff. Chunks of Realgar dangled at the end of it. It stood there. It was waiting for a challenge.
Star Sapphire was baffled for a moment at the sheer size of that thing. "... Fuck." He groaned, gritting his teeth slightly, before striding forward just so he could stand in front of Tree Agate. "How fast can you run?" If this was how it is, he had to get the child to safety. And he knew the watchtower was much too far away from the field for him to reach it in time before disaster struck. This had to be dealt with now. With sharp motions, he yanked both of his sleeves off as well as the skirt attachment to his robe, throwing them to the ground. This would be easier with just the pants and sleeveless top, he reckoned. "I can't guarantee to protect you with this behemoth on the scene, and I doubt you can find the other Brilliants." He sighed, this seriously pissed him off. Of course, this was a common site for sunspots, only a fool would go here of all places. There was no point to hesitate, him raising his morning star flail to point at the Lunarian. "You look even older than me. Aching for a fight, are you?"
Tree Agate stared up in horror. Sheād never seen a Lunarian this big before. It looked completely different compared to the ones she was used to. Did the Brilliants fight these types? She snapped out of her terrified daze. āI can run but-ā Tree watched as Star Sapphireās sleeves and skirt tore off. She frowned. She didnāt want to leave him behind, but she had no choice. Tree clutched onto her flower tightly. āI hope I can see you again!ā She shouted above the Lunariansā music and ran back towards the village.
Tree Agate ran through the Village, dashed through the forest, and back into the tunnels, never looking back onceā¦
