Photography

A little photoshoot I did over the week, I was inspired by gregory crewdson and his use of lighting in his photography and the story he try's to construct in them. I gonna try to do more work that's inspired by his over the coming weeks seeming how lighting can help in playing into the narrative of the story.

Photography elective 

A series of photo’s i call “Growing out of focus”, as the year has progressed the continued lockdowns and being stuck in inside with little human interactions has caused me to be more introspctive and focus on myself, thus changing on how i view myself(focus) becoming more abstract and blurry as i question myself on deeper and abstract things with it eventually becoming so muddled that i am merely a smear in the frame showinhg how changed my thoughts and focus are now.

I've been spending alot of time being up later at night and that has lead me to see my house in a different setting, throught his I found that a red light shines in throught the window of house.

I thought the would be the opportunity to explore more photography work and this is what I've come up with.

Found a gas mask in a box of stuff I had on top of my wardrobe, so I decided to try make some photos with it as it helps with showing the feeling of being restricted of being somewhat isolated or stuck. I think the photos came out well.

Artist research : Bruce gilden 

Bruce gilden is a American street photographer known for his candid close-up photo’s of people in New york using his flash gun.

I really like his photo’s because of his use of his flash gun creating surreal but incredibly detailed photo’s of people that seem to present a real version of them self’s. The fact that his photo’s are candid seems the add to this, leaving the person no time to present themself in a manner they deem okay.

I also like Mr Gildens work because while his photo’s are candid they almost all create a narrative in them, there always seem’s like there a story happening in them and we get to view it.

Photography Elective

I tried my hand at superimposing images, was different to what I'm used to. Most difficult part other than using the app to do it was setting up the shot so they were identical so it wouldn't look off when I put them together.

I'm glad of how the turned off, I feel like it captures how I was feeling when I took them, I had been stuck inside all day and I just felt tired and isolated.

That's why I took them looking through the doorframe, to try create distance from the viewer and me and make it feel like I'm isolated in the room.
