hey i was wondering if you could help me i wanna buy a camera but i have a hard time deciding on the brand and modal. I am thinking about a Nikon D 3300. Any advice?
Hey there, I’d love to help any way I could! As a strict Canon user, I don’t have any personal experience with Nikon DSLRs, but I’ve looked up the model you’ve asked about and it looks like a pretty solid beginner camera from the Nikon line. Its Amazon rating is between 4-5 stars, which is good. And it’s a best-seller, which usually means good things also. The fact that it’s a beginner camera with 24 megapixels is pretty sweet! And since it was released 2 years ago, that price is very decent.
I found this cool website a few years ago called PixelPeeper (this isn’t a sponsor or plug or anything, just a site I use sometimes to see sample photos) and you can choose a camera model and ANY lens paired together to see how the image quality looks, taken by real users, unedited, straight from Flickr. Here are some images with the camera you’re thinking of getting and the kit lens it comes with.
There’s also a site I like to head to for camera research called SnapSort. Here’s the SnapSort page for the D3300. It has the stats on there, competitor cameras from other brands, sample photos, and videos. It’s very cool! The site also has options to compare one camera to another and it shoots out a “score” for each and tells you the “winner” haha. Just for fun, I put in the D3300 vs my old beginner camera from Canon (mine is a really old model though). It totally knocked my old one out of the park statistically (I expected this but it’s still interesting to know for sure)!
You probably know this from researching cameras, but once you buy a Nikon body, a Canon lens will not work on it. Lenses are expensive, but over time, you’ll build a small (or maybe big, who knows?) collection of lenses for your camera body. They will all be Nikon lenses or possibly lenses by other brands (Sony, Sigma) that are built specifically for Nikon bodies and will not work on Canon bodies. This is why normal beginner hobbyists must choose wisely between Canon and Nikon (or other lesser known brands) – the lenses are not interchangeable, so you usually stick to one brand for the long haul. Unless you’re rich and own lots of money to buy all different types of bodies and lenses. Then you’re lucky! Or if you hate one brand, you could always sell and switch to the other. But you’ll be selling used products so you won’t get your money back in full.
Over all, I’d say the Nikon D3300 is a wonderful beginner camera and lens. I hope you found this useful! If you end up getting it message me!!! And if you take sky photos with it, submit them!!! xoxo
