Introduction to digital camera work and lighting in a studio setting:
In this workshop I learned the basics of using a digital camera and setting up studio lighting, as well as utilising the random assortment of objects to compose a more interesting photograph,
In relation to Biophilia, I played around with the imagery of the Norse god Odin. For the photo with one eye obscured with flower, and the image of holding one's removed eye, I reference odins depictions of having sacrificed one of his eyes for knowledge.
The image of shrouded figure, I reference the fact that he is known as the God of the slain, the hanged God or the hanged one, the first name references the fact he claims those who die in battle and sends to his honored Hall of Valhall. He is knoen as a god of war and of death, the two which coincide with one another.

6th Street Gallery
7th St @ Mission in San Francisco, Ca
This is outside the 6th7th Gallery that was originally founded on 6th St and is currently on 7th. They feature photographs spanning over 20 years documenting the local community. They hold events and workshops and work with the residents by providing technical assistance and equipment.
Back in the 60s and 70s the Greyhound Bus Station was a half block away. It was a busy hub with students going to local colleges and other passengers traveling near and far. The neighborhood was pretty gritty and packed with bars and small business. It was a place most people tried to do fast pickups and drop offs. Times have changed… A Federal Building is there.
Check out their website and stop by the gallery. They participate in Artspan
