What about Rundas?

Many were impressed by Rundas’ abilities, which is why he was trusted for the mission in Corruption, considered almost on the level of Samus Aran. But back on his home moon of Phrygis, he wasn’t actually that well-liked. They didn’t trust him much, finding it a bit unusual that he used his ice powers to become a bounty hunter. He was much more popular outside his own homeworld.

Sadly, surprisingly few people mourned him- nor did many mourn Ghor or Gandrayda, in fact. At the very least, Samus and everyone else they worked with in Corruption remembered them fondly as heroes without whom Norion would be long destroyed. Memorials were constructed on the planet in their honour.

Cryogenic species like the phrygsians tend to end up being the most widely known species in federation society. Cryogenic biology is so alien and dangerous to the way that the great majority of life forms in the universe operate that a culture of morbid romanticism and curiosity has developed in the way other species relate to them (which has caused problems for many cryogenic species in terms of discriminatory treatment before). But apart from the noteriety that comes with their cryo-biology, the phrygsians are also famous for their music. You wouldn’t think of it from looking at them or hearing them speak, but phrygsians have beautiful, almost transcendent singing voices and a highly advanced understanding of acoustics. Phrygsian choirs and orchestras are frequently rated as the best in the galaxy, and phrygsian-built temples and concert halls are considered the best performance spaces around in the federation’s professional music community.

Rundas, like many other phrygsians, enjoyed music as a hobby. He was always quite fond of his electric guitar. The song heard during his boss battle in prime 3 is one of his own compositions. His friends also played some of his music at his funeral, and there was a phrygsian choir singing more traditional songs as well.

Rundas?

Phrygisians live in fantastic ice houses, which they can carve easily into beautiful and impressive shapes that stay frozen on their home moon. Being as proud as he is, Rundas dedicated more time than he'd admit to shaping the interior of his ice home, fitting his battle trophies into the architecture artistically. He liked to make sure that any visitors noticed his skillful interior design.

When the people of Phrygis got the news about Rundas, they quickly prepared for their rites. Phrygisians live for a very long time and deaths are infrequent, so they can afford complex and time-consuming traditions of mourning. Those who knew and loved him gathered in the central temple of his home city and meditated together through the night. For a full week 18 elders kept vigil in the temple. The vigil was kept in silence, as is tradition for the Phrygisians.

Ghor’s spouse got a knock on the door of their apartment: three GF military officials, here to inform them. They cried for hours afterwards. No matter how much they pleaded the federation wouldn’t tell them how it actually happened. They became consumed with searching for answers, going to some very drastic lengths before Samus finally broke federation protocol and showed up a month later in secret to tell them. Ghor and his spouse were once good friends of Samus’s, but since then things have been different. Ghor’s spouse knew that she wasn’t to blame, and they were grateful that she told them in the end, but knowing who fired the shot that took their husband’s life they found themselves unable to forgive her, no matter how hard they tried. Samus is no longer welcome in her friend’s former home.

No one mourned Gandrayda.

No one except Samus.
