[MIX-SERIES] LVLSRVRYHI-003: PHSNWSKY
lvlsrvryhi: So I guess first off an introduction is in order - who-r-u, where are you from and what made you start producing music?
PHSNWSKY: I'm Erick Pacheco (PHSNWSKY) i have 21 years and i live in hell (Mexico). Well start producing music since I was 15, I was fan of chiptune, even still I have my circuits atari and gameboy, thereby fabricate my first assemblies sound (they were pretty bad) hahahaha - but hey I looked very interesting music then and gradually got to know just synthesizers .
In this order: Casio Tone Bank 100, MicroKorg, ?? Juno, Little Phaty Moog, midi's etc etc, later I started to use the pc as a musical instrument.
lvls: What influences have led you to the sound you're at now - and where can you see them leading you going forward?
P: Well my biggest influence is Night Slugs and all its artists, Girl Unit, Bok Bok, L Vis, Jam city, Hysterics (GU), Kingdom, Velour etc. etc.. Their music is what eventually gave way to PSHWNSKY, to them I owe him little or much you have accomplished when I hear Girl Unit's Wut is when I decided to really give a dramatic and unexpected turn my music, if too!
I like artists like Murlo, Nguzunguzu, Dubbel Dutch and that Dark0 and hint Swet boy tears I love!
Well guess what's next in terms of music PHSWNSKY is uncertain, the only thing I can say is that melodies will come to fill your heart perciciones drawn from a machine assembly of cars and low baroque and fine as fuck
lvls: Do you try and link your production and your mixes?
P: That odd question. But no, the truth is I've never done a mix and therefore never eh linked my tracks with some mixture, this mix and you are to Thump will be the first, had never thought about it the truth. Eh I played on few stages, 2 times, one with DJ FEADZ and another with a guy who plays techno called Highbloo.
lvls: What is your favourite moment in the mix - was there anything you wanted to include but couldn't?
P: Neana, Hysterics, ya u know...
lvls: The thing I appreciate most in your sound on your two Car Crash Set releases is the way, at least this is how I see it, those choral synths work like watercolour washes holding together your percussion. The colour and depth they add is something I find really refreshing, like a pallette cleanser when everyone is out there making drum tracks. Especially when you've got the She's Drunk remix of Mystic there as well.
P: I think that every job is different and that eventually change the sounds, which I will, but one thing I can assure you, when you listen to my new release it will be something unique!
lvls: I've been thinking about how, lately, a lot of the 'club music' coming out has eschewed the kind of local gestation element of most pre-internet styles of dance music - one of the JANUS guys referred to it as 'homeless' in an interview with 032c. So I was wondering whether you're making music with a particular idea of when and where it's going to be played; do you have a scene outside of the internet in mind for your tunes?
P: I do not know man, you know I do not think anything of it, for now I think to improve my production and to translate all those sounds that I sleep in my tracks, later I would like to get out into the world and play everywhere by everywhere, the music should not be labeled, and trends can not be followed but create .. that is what I think
lvls: Do you have anything else that you've you been listening to recently you'd like to share?
