WWDC26: Watch Apple’s short recap of this year’s Platforms State of the Union
A fresh space update is giving scientists and engineers another useful data point, the kind that can matter long after the launch photo or mission headline fades.
The value of space work is often delayed. The public moment is the mission update; the real payoff comes from the data, the engineering lessons and the experiments that follow.

Last time, Rowan and the gang finished cleaning up the remaining stragglers on the Risen Road and around the Sword Coast. After sneaking back into the goblin stronghold, and slipping down the ladder into the underdark.
- So, I do remember dealing with the Selune underdark exit from my first playthrough, though this time I was smart enough not to just run out and get zapped to death lol. I did end up destroying the zappy orb, as I couldn't find a way to turn the damn thing off. I also took a moment to quickly take out the two big minotaurs that were roaming around the upper area. Fortunately, being ridiculously over-leveled they went down pretty quickly.
- There were also a couple of small battles that I don't remember from the first time round, and so am assuming they were modded in - there was a giant Hook Horror up by the lift to the vagabond hideout, and a weird fleshy purple guy near the singing sword. As both were by themselves it wasn't too much trouble taking them out, though the Hook Horror did summon up some friends before the battle ended.
- The next step was meeting and greeting the Myconids! I do like these weird guys, it would have been fun to be able to make a mushroom character. In saying that, I probably would have wanted mine to look a bit prettier than these guys look - a bit more human too!
Anyway, Rowan and the gang chat with the sovereign and promise to deal with the dark dwarves, and I also quickly stopped to pick up Sovereign Glut along the way. I do know of Glut's eventual plan, and I don't really intend to let him get away with it, but in the meantime he's useful to have around. Once again, there's a hot hobgiblin hanging around lol.
- Now, whilst I did think of going straight to the dwarves and dealing with them, I figured I'd make use of the extra party member and deal with some of the other enemies first, starting with the burrowing dragon / lizard thing (I can't remember what it's called, and no I shan't look it up), which was a bit of a fun fight. Glut didn't really help out here as he was far too slow to keep up, but Wyll and Karlach made short work of the beastie. There were also a couple of Hook Horrors and a Drow ranger nearby, but they went down so quickly that I didn't even stop to think to grab screenshots! I also took the time to save the mushroom scavenger and grab the noblestalk for Shadowheart to have later. Having Glut in the party made it pretty easy, as the explosive, poisonous mushrooms don't react to him.
- There was another Mod battle, just outside of the Myconid camp with a gang of dark dwarves and a drow cultist. The dwarves were all pretty low levels, but they had some nasty tricks up their sleeves, and the drow cultist was a few levels higher than Rowan's gang, so this was actually a pretty tough fight. The dwarves had two mind mages, and twice managed to get Shadowheart under their spell - fortunately I was able to break their concentration before they made her do anything stupid. To top it all off, when the cultist went down, the one remaining dwarf cast invisibility on himself and scarpered! I did try to use Rowan's magic eye but to no avail, the little bugger had run off... or so I thought. I was just winding the battle down and grabbing stuff off the bodies when he popped up and started chucking bombs! Fortunately he went down pretty quickly after that.
- With all that done, it was time to wander down to the docks and destroy the dark dwarves. Luckily, Lae'zel picked up the traces of an ambush, so Rowan didn't get jumpscared and lose a turn, but it still ended up being a bit of a messy fight. Most of it took place on the narrow gangplanks and ladders around the cliffside, and so there were a lot of instances of people not really being able to move around. I did end up deciding to let one of the dwarves summon some undead servants, as it wouldn't have been a fair fight otherwise! I was sorely tempted to use Shadowheart's 'Turn Undead' here, but by the time I got her into a good position most of them had been taken out (again). Wyll and Karlach ended up making short work of the dwarves by the dock, with Rowan and Gale tackling the summoner dwarf with spells of their own. All in all, it took a few rounds but it got there in the end.
Of course, once we finished dispatching the dwarves, our helpful mushroom friend Glut let slip his plan to take the Myconid colony in revenge for the loss of his own. With Rowan refusing to help in the coup, tensions rose and it ended up in fisticuffs. Unfortunately for Glut, it was one against seven, so it didn't exactly take long to finish him off.
With Glut's plans at an end, it's time for Rowan and the gang to return to the circle and let them know the good news. However, there's still the matter of making our way over to the far shore of the underdark - and off in the distance, a strange crumbling tower, covered in odd pipes and contraptions...
Recap: Project Loki, Episode 16 – The Pandora’s Box
Lori heads to the QED Club room alone, angry graffiti sprayed onto the doors. This takes place between issues #10 and #11 in Ms. Marvel (1977).
(Carol actually appears in #61 as well, but it's only for a brief moment, included in the panel collage below.)
This issue was written by Chris Claremont, the author of Carol's ongoing at the time.
"Off on a ten-day Caribbean cruise ... Carol Danvers ... grabbing a brief, well-earned vacation."
Man, I wish 10 days was considered a brief vacation.
Spidey has been stalling a Super-Skrull, hoping the Avengers will come by for an assist soon. Carol manages to sneak away, joining him in the fight as Ms. Marvel:
Among with the usual violent impulses Ms. Marvel carries, that seem to originate from Mar-Vell, Carol has gained an unwanted hatred for Skrulls.
Do you think when Rogue absorbed Carol and had her in her mind, there was an even smaller Mar-Vell in Carol's mind, like a matryoshka doll?
Carol is distracted by the super-skrull's highly destructive Cavourite crystal (a current plot point in her series), and gets punted into the Statue of Liberty....
Which happens to be her home in 36 real earth years [Earth-1218, apparently]:
No, really... It was given to her by J Jonah Jameson, her now-boss, future Mayor, in front of her (1977)-coworkers Tracy Burke and Frank Gianelli.
KSD definitely read Ms. MARVEL (1977). I wish more writers were overtly into her Uncanny X-Men run.
Anyway, Spider-Man catches her, mistaking Carol for then-Captain Marvel, Mar-Vell.
Ms. Marvel and Spider-Man introduce themselves, and Peter agrees to follow a risky plan she's devised to stop the Super-Skrull, leading him lower into the ship to minimize danger to the passengers.
"Briefly, Captain, Spider-Man and I are trying to stop one of the deadliest menaces our world has ever known. And if I have to sacrifice my life, Spidey's life, your ship, and your passengers to stop the Skrull, Captain-- I'LL DO IT!"
Some great character-establishing moments for Carol. Carol would pull the lever in the trolley problem, immediately.
Beautiful. The style of comics is quite different nowadays in a way I generally prefer, but the art is often very striking in these old issues. I also love the shot of her holding the gem, below.
Carol is ready to die for the cause, surprised that she survived the encounter after. And she does her best to keep Spidey safe in the plan.
We end with a fractioned shot of Carol witnessing a million facets of herself, with a note telling us to read more in her ongoing, Ms. Marvel (1977). On we go.
Review: Fun character development, and some pretty art. Hi Spider-Man, good luck with your finals.
Enjoyed seeing the earliest moments of Carol's very Utilitarianism-based way of thinking, which I'd say is a pretty important aspect of her characterization.
Weiterlesen ->
