It's Repost Rednesday! So here's that nice Phylosian from Tactical, who despite being mentioned all the way back in season 1, has still yet to make an on-screen appearance... or be mentioned again.

On a related note, Phylosians were actually a playable species in the first Star Trek TTRPG, which being released in 1978, took a lot of content from The Animated Series, which was then officially de-canonized during the TNG era, before Lower Decks re-canonized it and there's nothing anyone can do about it.

Here's some art of my Phylosian OC, Chloryn! They're a xenobiologist/xenobotanist but mostly focuses on their study of effects tribbles have on humanoid lifeforms and how that can be used medically to help things like anxiety and depressive episodes.

If you guys would be interested in hearing more on that, I do sort of have a little "paper" written out for this I could share!

I haven't drawn their Starfleet uniform yet but that's because I'm still not sure how to approach it on a quadrupedal, octomanual plant?

It's like that "how does a cat wear pants" meme haha

Anyways, the second image is them in their Halloween costume that Lena Trevi (their friend/assistant) made for them and convinced them to wear.

The title is a bit misleading, as about half the book is dedicated to hostile and neutral worlds not belonging to the Federation.

Author Shane Johnson did his best to include as many alien races as he could from Star Trek: The Original Series, The Animated Series, the films, and The Next Generation.  Though this was published early in TNG’s run (1989),  even at that time it was nowhere near comprehensive (especially since TNG introduced at least one new species/world each episode).

Johnson had assistance from many people at the Star Trek production offices when he created this book.  However, like so many Star Trek books, it is considered outside canon.  There is even a disclaimer stating that “the facts and background details...as presented in (this book) are solely the author’s interpretation.”
