If I have K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth out and cast Vraska, Betrayal's sting, spending life for the phyrexian mana symbol, can I elect to have her enter with her full loyalty by electing to pay 2 life using K'rrik's abiliy rather than the 2 life mode for phyrexian mana? Or does Compleated only care if I spent life for that mana symbol, and not how I did so?

Compleated only very specifically cares if you chose the inherent life payment option for the card's Phyrexian mana symbols. If you pay life to cast the card in other ways, such as through K'rrik or Bolas's Citadel, the planswalker will enter the battlefield with its printed starting loyalty. The loyalty reduction is specifically linked to how you pay that phyrexian mana symbol. If you don't pay it somehow, then there's no loyalty reduction.

Can you explain the interaction between Trinisphere, delve, and Phyrexian mana? I'm given to understand that delve gets around Trinisphere but Phyrexian mana doesn't and was wondering if you could explain why that is.

When you cast a spell with Trinisphere on the battlefield, it will look at the spell's cost once any alternate costs, cost increases, and cost reductions have been applied and then increase the total cost to three mana if it's not already three mana or more.

Phyrexian mana falls afoul of Trinisphere because the choice for whether to pay mana or life for each Phyrexian mana symbol in a spell's cost is made before its final cost is determined. This means that if you choose to pay 2 life instead of U to cast your Gitaxian Probe, Trinisphere isn't going to like that and will make you pay 3 in addition to the 2 life. If you had chosen to pay U, then it would increase the total cost to 2U.

Delve, convoke, and improvise get around Trinisphere's shenanigans because they're payment mechanics that aren't applied until after the total cost of the spell has been determined. So when you cast Gurmag Angler, Trinisphere sees that its total cost is seven and leaves it alone, even if you end up paying for it by only spending B and by exiling six cards from your graveyard.

does angel of jubilations life-paying restriction affect phyrexian mana? or do phyrexian mana symbols somehow get around it?

Angel of Jubilation will keep players from being able to pay life for phyrexian mana as it’s paying life to cast a spell. Players can still cast spells with phyrexian mana costs and pay mana for those costs, however.

The Storm Scale database - September 12 2016 update

OK everyone, this is normally the last catch-up update, as I really hope to get back to a normal schedule. So, this is the update to the database for the period from August 22 to September 11.

A double faced-card with Morph which is also a flip cards on both sides is a 11 on the scale.

Phyrexian mana is now a 7 on the scale (it was previously a 5).

You probably have already answered this, but how does phyrexian mana work when it comes to color identity for EDH/Commander? I'm specifically wondering about Hex Parasite and if it can be in a deck that doesn't allow black. Please, thank you and you're awesome!

Phyrexian mana symbols are still mana symbols of the appropriate color. Hex Parasite has a black color identity and can’t go in a deck with a non-black commander.

Pertaining to Gitaxian Probe and Past in Flames: Does "Gain Flashback equal to it's converted Mana cost" mean it flashes back of U or for Phyrexian U? Can I pay 2 life to flashback Gitaxian Probe out of my yard or do I pay U?

Gitaxian Probe’s flashback cost is {U/P} when it gains flashback from Past in Flames, Snapcaster Mage, Recoup, or Dralnu so you can pay 2 life to flash it back.
